I had high expectations that fell short. The crab cakes caught my eye when viewing the online menu before visiting. The restaurant/ bar was small and while we sat in the back the entry and bar section seemed to be crowded (more then to my liking). The place was dark, loud from other guest and the music playing. Service was great, our waitress was wonderful. I watched her serve the bar and guest seated at tables by herself and she did a fantastic job! Order the crab cakes, with side choices of mac n' cheese and Cole slaw, had onion petals for an app. Crab cakes were less then subpar. The lumps of meat the menu described were no where to be found, heck the crab might have been missing too. It was mushy and almost pureed baby food smashed into the shape of a burger. Was not impressed. The mac n' cheese had gigantic noodles, maybe 5, was not much at all. I think regular size noodles would have given me my moneys worth atleast. The Cole slaw was creamy, the highlight of my entire meal here. The onion petals were good too. The serving sizes here are small compared to the cost and quality of food I had. I have previously seen advertisement for a breakfast buffet here (Not sure if they are currently serving.) And I was interested in trying, but after my dinner visit here I don't think I will be returning. I was actually very disappointed, because I thought I was really going to enjoy this newer establishment in the area,(based off newspaper ads and description of food on the menu) my expectations...
Read moreI drove up from Florida to visit my daughter for a 21st birthday which was on October 5th. We tried to go to another place in Johnstown initially, but ended up leaving and decided to try this place. I'm SO glad we did. The bartender was incredibly friendly as soon as we walked in the door, and told us to have a seat anywhere. There was several booths as well as tables and then of course they had the bar seating. Our waitress came over and was incredibly polite, and my daughter was able to order her first alcoholic drink. She got a caramel apple mudslide I believe and she thought it was really good. I tried one of the local hazy IPAs which was also phenomenal. We ordered an appetizer which was the spicy cheese balls and highly recommend those! My daughter ordered nachos and the portions were huge and she really seemed to enjoy it. For me I ordered their corned beef Reuben and fries... Let me tell you, that sandwich was to die for. I highly recommend trying that if you like corned beef and Reubens. The location was perfect as well, it was easy to get in and park and we just spent probably an hour or an hour and a half there and had a great time. I wanted to mention too that I believe our original waitress's shift ended, and the waitress that took over for her was also amazing. Next time I'm up there in Pennsylvania I am definitely going back and trying some of the other food that I saw...
Read moreThe chicken noodle soup was bad. The "cup" I don't think even got close to being an actual cup... for $3.25. It had no taste. The broth tasted like it wad just the water left over from cooking the noodles. No taste. Ordered the open face turkey. Also tasteless. The turkey was just watery, with no flavor. The only flavor I got from the potatoes was a hint of garlic. The gravy was basically brown water. Scooped up a spoonful of it to confirm. Yep, nothing there. There was flavor in the bowl of melted butter I got (for an extra $2.25), which happened to have some corn in it. Too bad you couldn't taste any of the corn. Soaked off all the butter with a napkin, and yeah, flavorless corn. The only thing that tasted like anything with the glass of pepsi I got.
The food was absolutely unacceptable, and I wont ever be coming back. There's no excuse for having a whole meal of tasteless food. Yes, we all have some off days. One thing might be a little off. That happens. But to have every part/ingredient of the meal be tasteless is just a sign of people not caring about the quality of the food they're selling. A complete...
