MUST READ THIS! Beware false good reviews! The fortune cookie was not stale and the pancake was fresh and fluffy, but that is all I can say that was anything near edible. The "noo" shoe pork was awful with old dry stale rubbery pork and poorly cooked rough undercooked cabbage. The flavor was like fish sauce without the saltiness. It needed sweet, salt, ono and possibly some other veg like spring onion. The Mongolian beef had a decent spice and the meat was edible, but the dish was mostly large chunks of onion and cabbage. When I first bit the cabbage it was like biting the outer layer of an onion. Papery and dry and inedible. Unfortunately both the onion and cabbage was like that and it did not get better. Same fishy stale awful taste came through this dish. The spring roll had a gooey doughy inside that was sketchy. The hot and sour soup was the most disgusting combination of only vinegar and cornstarch with the cheapest canned bamboo shoestring that are rough like hemp rope. I feel like I want to vomit just thinking about what I just ate. I have to say this was the worst Chinese I have ever had! I have no idea what dish they might do well that everyone gave good ratings. Possibly some fried sweet stuff. It was cheaply priced, but I would have gladly paid much more for something edible with nice vegetables like boo choy Hey owners, go to a chines market and buy something other than the cheapest possible thing on the shelf. There is a lot of awesome flavor in your culture, but what you have done is a describe to my favorite dishes. I would not eat that food if...
Read moreWe have been coming here a long time. I know owners have changed. Well guess what so did the food... we have tried three times now. Food tastes funky. Celery is over cooked or they use canned vegetables. They put the food in flimsy plastic containers then they over fill so you spill it opening. Chow mein like soup. We just can't go back, it feels like they are trying to do their own thing from what their siblings did who use to own it. Just go back to the recipe with no short cuts. Had to toss all the food. We used the restaurant for my father in law's funeral 2 1/2 years ago, people from all over city drove here to get the chow mein after that. Not anymore! Sad cause it is so close to our house. Maybe bring previous owners back for more...
Read moreThis is just a hole in the wall Chinese Restaurant though don't let that fool you.
The egg rolls off of the appetizers are big, full and delicious. The sauce that comes with them is versatile and yummy.
The pot stickers are pretty good. I wish they had more filling and a thicker more meatier shell.
House of Kai is the ONLY Chinese Restaurant that I have been to that when an item is marked spicy, They Mean Spicy. Which we Love!
Their selection of dishes is quite good and flavorful.
A great bonus is that the woman that I have seen and had contact with is a very pleasant, kind and wonderful to work with.
You can't go wrong with giving them a try. It just may be the fix you are...
