Fisherman's Galley — Restaurant in Eden

First time visiting the Fisherman's Galley and it was quite the treat for my wife and I. They opened at 3 p.m. and we arrived shortly after 3 to almost a full parking lot. Upon entering we were met by the cashiers at the takeout counter who didn't say a word. As we went through the doors we passed another cashier who didn't speak as well. So immediately I'm wondering if we came to the right place seeing the people weren't as friendly. We were seated at a booth and everything was clean and the lighting was perfect. We were greeted by a very friendly and charismatic waitress by the name of Ruth. She was so kind and friendly. We started with the cheese sticks which was very delicious and for our entree my wife ordered the flounder platter with fried oysters and baked potato and I had the catfish platter with scallops and popcorn shrimp. It was so much food. We knew right away that we would not be able to eat it all. Ruth continued to check on our table as we ate and enjoyed one another's company. The food was nice and hot and too much for my stomach to hold. It's well worth the money. You get what you pay for and a whole lot more. If you're looking for some seafood and great service be sure to check out the fisherman's galley. Tell them you want to sit where Ruth is the server. I love this place and never had any issues until this visit, which just so happens to be my birthday. I called my order in as usual, the sweet voice on the other end of the phone said it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. Well I had plenty of time to get gas and then pick up my order, which I did. However, when I gave the checkout girl my last name, my order wasn't ready, which I thought was odd, it had been at least 20 minutes since I called. I waited and waited until finally one of the ladies doing all the running came over and asked me to clarify my order, they had marked the ticket shrimp and shrimp 😂 I ordered shrimp and scallops as a treat for my birthday! She told me she would have it out shortly. I spent probably 15-20 minutes at the restaurant waiting for my order. They were busy and I didn't complain. When my order was ready, the nice lady said she would take care of me in the vestibule area. She got a half gallon of tea out and put it with my order. I'm thinking 🤔 I didn't order tea, especially not sweet 😂. She gave me my total, I paid and she apologized for my long wait and said here's a half gallon of tea. 👍 I was blown away! I'm originally from Danville, VA. I grew up ob Mayflower. I've heard Mayflower has declined in food quality, which now has them searching for alternative seafood restaurants in the area.

Because we live in Northern VA now, I'm not familiar with other seafood restaurants there. Someone suggested Fisherman's Gallery. We went on 7/20/18. The two stars are solely based on food quality, not service. The service is great and staff are very friendly. Now that I've gotten that out of the way. Food= tasteless😣!!! Two food items you MUST season-- chicken & SEAFOOD. You can never not season these and it taste good. It was lunch time but I still ordered the two item plate because I love scallops. The other item was basic popcorn shrimp. They use similar batter to Mayflowers, but neither had flavor. Portion size, although lunch time--I didn't order the lunch size, was small. Tip: if you're gonna compete with former Mayflower lovers, you've got to step your game up and come better than this. No one likes bland seafood. Sorry but you missed the mark for this seafood lover.
