Sakura — Restaurant in Eden

Well we have never tried this place but with all the rave I seen on a Facebook post I thought let's try it. Well first when we came in the waitress asked me what time it was, I showed her my phone said 2:56. I said oh did we make it in time for lunch prices, since it was before 3. She stated as long as we ordered quickly, which we did. It was before 3. 2:58 exactly. I showed her the time on my phone. she walks away, we eat our food and go pay and to my surprise it's almost 38$ plus a tip. I was absolutely shocked at the price for one we ordered before 3 if there was a cut off she should have told us. The prices are imo really high for strip mall Japanese food. The rice was pretty delicious my favorite thing though out the whole meal. I personally wasn't a fan of their soup. But everyone has different taste. Never got offered a refill till we got our check to leave. Overall, I can't say I'll be back to this...

I enjoyed the sushi and the whole party was pleasantly surprised by the food. I say surprised because we have been to only two Japanese restaurants since we moved to NC and the first one left me with NC Japanese food PTSD. I've been scared to try any place in the area since. So by comparison amazing and objectively very good. Service was great and fast despite our server having a lot of tables, she was very attentive. The only thing I would say is it's definitely a "don't judge a book by it's cover" aesthetic. If I hadn't decided based on the food images on the website to go there I may not have looked inside and thought it would have quality food. I don't understand the negative reviews. We hadn't been in yrs but my nephew said new people had taken over some time ago and he goes often. We've gone several times since he said this. I was very pleased to finally have decent Asian food in Eden. The pricing is appropriate for what you get. I always have leftovers. Love the wonton soup and the rice is great. The ginger sauce is good along with the white sauce. Shrimp and chicken were fresh and cooked perfectly. There is a very cheap takeout special on a sign that sounds good.
