On first arrival, this restaurant has a nice decor to it. I love the lighting and nice ambience. Compliments to the person who made the music choice selection. Considering the fact they are playing a lot of (R&B), one would have to assume this restaurant is open to all people. (White, blacks, Chinese, filipinos, Hispanic and alike. This list goes on and on.
That being said, everyone matters. Note* about myself, I'm a former Marine Veteran so being observant comes with the territory. Without paying mind I noticed that a woman kept making rounds to people sitting at every table. This happened once, twice, three times then finally a fourth. Every time she was at a table, she would ask how their visit is going and how is the food but manages to avoid our table at all cost.
My fiancé, gave me a quick look but doesn't say a word. I looked at her and just asked a question and said what are you seeing. She then replied with the statement I've written above. I didn't get that feeling from anyone else besides her and that's why I'm not giving them a 1. I can't however not share my experience for others that will try this place after us.
I'm good enough to fight for this country but not good enough to be acknowledge at this restaurant.
Food wasn't bad, dessert was great. I don't stand for DISCRIMINATION or INEQUALITY, so with that being said, THIS IS ONE BUSINESS I CANT CONDONE SUPPORTING!
EDIT* she wasn't the manager, I found out she was the owner. Definitely not a good look.
Reply back to Lynn S (Owners) message.
There were only 7 tables occupied the whole time I was there Lynn. We were the 8th table in total. That being said you made it to every other table. We also just happened to be in between two of the family's. One of your last stops where to a family who hadn't even been in there for 10 - 15 minutes before you came over. You even made it before they got the meal they ordered.
This same party was sitting directly in front of us and the other family directly behind us. Do us both a favor and stop with your excuses. You are upset because you are being called out for your inappropriate actions. I also know you have cameras, we live in the 21st Century right? I dare you post the footage since you had the audacity to say " PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND THE NEXT TIME YOU CHOOSE TO OPENLY DEFAME A SMALL BUSINESS."
So clearly there is nothing to be mistaken here. The staff may not be racist but your actions clearly were. Added to the fact that you make mention that are family is multi-racial and multi-religion. I mentioned nothing about religion. This message is clearly to you and your racist tendencies.
Usually anytime someone has to make mention to the fact I have friends or family of different ethnic groups usually tends to be someone who is racist and to watch out for. Anyone that's heard a similar statement to the one you just wrote will know exactly what I'm referring to.
That being said do not thank me for my service for this country. If there happened to be a situation that didn't favor you, I wouldn't intervene and I do that for my country!

Read moreMy fiancé and I decided to try this place out for the first time yesterday around 1pm since we were around the area. When you first walk in one can admire the beautiful decor with nice dim lighting. The perfect ambience with the NYC skyline in the background. A hostess immediately asked how many and I told her table for two. We immediately were seated on table and greeted by our waiter Ryan. I ordered the Kao Pad fried rice with shrimp, 3 selzter bottle, and my fiance ordered the Thai Basil fried with shrimp. I wasn't to impress with my dish it was extremely spicy which I don't mind but it lacked flavor. My fiancé asked our waiter Ryan for some type of sauce to add to our dishes. Ryan was extremely patient and knowledgeable. He offered multiple sauce and eventually we both ordered the sweet chili sauce. While my fiancé and I were eating our meal we notice this lady (owner named Lynn) going around to each and every table except ours asking how their food was etc... My fiancé noticed she went around 4 times asking how's their experience and how's the food even to customers who were seated after us. Mind you this place was nearly empty only 7-8 tables were being occupied. Out of those 8 tables she manages to avoid our table. She asked the people who were seating behind us and the two guys seated to the left of us. I was feeling a little uncomfortable because my fiancé and I feel discriminated upon. After we finished eating our meal we ordered the Xango fried cheesecake. I must say the dessert was amazing and the best part of our meal. After we finished eating we got the bill for $54 dollars. I find that to be extremely overpriced Thai/ Vietnamese food. I don't mind paying top bucks for good quality food but that was not good quality food. After we paid we were walking out towards the exit and was greeted by a guy at the bar and the lady that I mentioned above who happens to be the owner of this place. The guy said have a good day guys and then owner proceeds to say have a great weekend once we already exited the door. I said thanks to the guy but refused to acknowledge her because I find her to be very hypocritical. She did not acknowledge us not once while we were seated but acknowledge everyone else in that restaurant. My fiancé stepped back inside and asked are you the manager and she said "actually no I'm the owner." Well let me tell you something Lynn your behavior is unacceptable and it's such a shame that you call yourself the owner since you don't know how to act like one. My review does not warrant a reply from you. So please do yourself a favor and don't write anything at all. The damage is done. You lost two customers who will never support your small business and will tell people not...
Read morePre-pandemic, my friends and I would go to SEAK all the time. It's definitely a hidden gem within the shopping center here. The staff is always accommodating and pleasant, and the whole place has a really cool atmosphere. I gave SEAK four stars only because some items are amazing, and some are underwhelming. You just have to know what to order before coming to eat here. Sometimes, I will order a bunch of appetizers/small plates and call it a day. The Bahn Mi Frites are one of the best things to order and share - crispy waffle fries covered in spicy aioli, Asian slaw, and caramelized pork cracklings. They are positively addicting. I've always had the satay skewers (I enjoy the beef more than the chicken) and the beef and avocado rolls. While I don't eat wings, my friends often get the chili wings and claim they are outrageous. As for the soup / pho, I've never ordered it myself but my friends would often order the traditional beef pho and rave about it. I've tasted the broth before, and it is quite complex and tasty - definitely house made. In fact, my vegetarian friend orders this without qualms (he doesn't get the meat, just extra veggies, but the broth is still made with meat). Actually, my favorite soup is the tom kha. My usual order is the tom kha, steak skewers, and the bahn mi frites to split. Speaking of bahn mi - SEAK's bahn mi sandwiches are delicious. I've not had one anywhere else to compare, but this is a pretty solid sandwich in itself. The Heritage Pork is probably the staple bahn mi, and it's delicious - a nice combination of flavors coming together it one unique sandwich. Just as a note - the pork belly and shoulder tend to be fatty, so if you're not a fan of chewing threw fat, you may want to opt for another one of their sandwich options. They all come with the same fixings (slaw, butter, aioli) so the experience will be similar. There are some things on here that are 'eh,' - the papaya salad, for example, is a little underwhelming, as are some of the chicken dishes. But there are plenty of great things to eat here too (for an entrée, I do enjoy the salmon) and I just say come here and experience it for yourself. There's even a great selection of bubble tea and desserts to choose from to treat yourself (the PB explosion and the fried cheesecake are both excellent). FYI - SEAK stands for Southeast Asian Kitchen, in case you...
