Tasty Moment truly knows how to make an impression. Beginning with the wonderful hostess, who showed us to our table, the attentiveness from the wait staff, table setting, modern sleek aesthetics, and the plating of the dishes as they are both delectable and exceptionally photogenic.
Tasty Moment specializes in Shanghai cuisine but does carry other items on their menus such as dim sum and specialty drinks. Their menu is diverse and there are plenty of vegetarian dishes, too. You will even see them making their famous XLB expertly prepared fresh, behind a see-through plexiglass area separating you from the people, as soon as you place your order. Upon sitting down, our waiter, came with water or if you would prefer barley tea. He suggested we start with a plate of their famous XLB. We ordered their pork meat soup dumplings and I can easily see why this place is famous for their XLB. You will do yourself a great service by asking for ginger and chili oil to go with your dumplings. Not everybody wants them so they do not automatically offer this to you. After biting into the dumpling, you will be rewarded with rich soup so be sure to have your dumpling resting on the spoon to catch every bit of liquid bliss.
My partner in food crime today shared a bowl of fish with pickled vegetable noodle soup and the fish was so velvety and savory accompanied by a rich broth that I have not tasted in quite a while at any restaurant. I dare say, I haven't had this good of fish noodle soup since my childhood. Thank you, Tasty Moment, for bringing back a delicious memory.
We also ordered grilled cuttle and cold duck in brown sauce. Pure delight although the duck won out in our taste palate. Probably because we have not had that for a long time.
The portions are generous so we were quite satiated by the end of our meal. After we took care of some business, the meal was so impressive that I went back and placed a takeout order with the gracious hostess. She told me my order, mixed mushrooms with green vegetables would take about 15 - 20 minutes. I mentioned I'll be outside sipping on my boba drink and set my timer to go back at the given time. Sipping my beverage, reading, and enjoying the warm sun, Lucy came out and personally handed me the order as it had just come out of the kitchen, piping hot.
Special shout out to our wonderful waiter, whose name escapes me, who will make your dining experience as wonderful as possible. Another shout-out goes to the hostess who welcomes you like you are old friends.
This place offers very clean tables. I noticed they clear the tables and thoroughly wipe down the tables after patrons leave so I feel quite safe knowing they go through the extra steps of keeping tables clean.
Needless to say, I will be back to try more things with...
Read moreLet me start by saying that the quality and taste of the food is exemplary... simply delicious and service of the wait staff was amazing. Its always been our go to place for simply awesome Chinese food and they did not disappoint this time.. So why the 1 star? It's because going to a restaurant, especially one of this standard, is a dining experience - a combination of great ambience, good service and awesome food. Sadly while the food was delicious our entire experience was severely marred by the actions of an overzealous front desk person. We made a reservation for 6 people and were told to ensure we are on time as they could not hold the table for us if we were late. We made it a point to get there 10 minutes earlier and inform them that we would be ready at the appontment time. Our friends turned up a few minutes after us but only 2 out of three could join due to a personal emergency. The front desk person informed us that that our table would be ready shortly as they wrre clearing it up...so we just waited there and 7 minutes after the appointed time they said they could seat us and we explained that we were 5 instead of 6. The front desk person refused to seat us and said that they could no longer seat us at the table and now we would have to wait for another 30 minutes and even asked us to reregister out appointment ! While we acknowledged that 1 person could not turn up, we also asked them about keeping us waiting after we showed up early for the appointment and how big a deal would it be if we were one person less.. We pointed out that as we spoke there were 3 people on a 6 person table and 4 people on another 6 person table. She continued to argue and we were about to leave if they could not find us a table. So they finally gave us our table, making us feel as if we had done an injustice to the people in the wait list.. I would have let this incident go unreported but here is the kicker...
From the time we were seated at our table till the time we left there was another 6 person table unoccupied. a 4 person table with 2 people on it and our original 6 person table with 5 people on it It really shook us up, changed the wonderful holiday mood, all thanks to an overzealous front desk person, who wanted to behave like a school monitor. Hopefully this is lesson for the restaurant management to be more flexible especially when the circumstances...
Read moreUpdate: The owner's response is an absolute joke. If you had any shred of sincerity, you would've immediately apologized to the elders in the same manner they made their reservation. Responding to my negative comment after such a delay just showcases the pathetic charade your management is running. Don't waste time with half-hearted apologies to me; it's the elders you mistreated. Your lack of genuine action speaks volumes about the owner's incompetence. I was extremely disgusted by the disgraceful behavior I witnessed at this restaurant a month ago, especially from the owner himself. The level of disrespect and discourtesy shown towards elderly patrons is utterly unacceptable.
Elderly customers, despite having a reservation for an early afternoon slot, were kept waiting for an extended period. When they voiced their concerns, the owner's response was not understanding or apologetic but was instead filled with rudeness and outright yelling. It's shocking to see any customer treated this way, especially our respected elders.
Even worse, the owner escalated the situation to an entirely inappropriate level by involving the police when the elderly patrons tried to address their concerns. He claimed to the police that these patrons were blocking his access to the checkout machine. These poor elders, who could barely stand straight without support, had to leave the place hungry after waiting for more than an hour. The situation was both outrageous and absurd.
As the owner, one would expect a high level of professionalism and empathy, especially when customers voice their legitimate complaints. This incident was a gross display of mismanagement by a despicable owner.
This is my first time writing a review here. I felt compelled to speak out against this reprehensible restaurant owner. His terrible behavior, especially the way he yelled at the elderly patrons, made me break my silence on social media, and I won’t stop exposing him on other platforms. I've seen other 1-star reviews that tell similar stories, and even his rude replies, where he calls people “Karen”, “Fake”, etc. This isn't an isolated incident — he behaves this way regularly. It's sickening that such behavior goes unchecked. Let's be clear: businesses like this don't deserve our...
