I have to amend my review. Last time I was here it was a completely different place. Since Covid it's no longer that cherry, lively restaurant. It is self serve buffet style. Feels like a totally different place. food still tastes very good. This place is just fabulous!!! One of my all time favorites. And I've been a LOT of places, all over the world!

New Hipster Fad, Harkens Back to neanderthal dining, if you like eating like savages.
Never one to judge a book by it's cover, the ambiance and appearance in the Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot is very modern chic. It has the look of an upscale Soho eatery and that draws out the hipsters like flies to honey. The food is supposed to be "fresh and healthy", none of which I can attest to. It appeared to be a cornucopia of choices, the problem was that if you are not familiar with Asian cuisine, you will be lost in the dark. I don't pretend to be a food critic or an aficionado of exotic dining, but this I do know. BOILED FOOD IS JUST THAT ! It's not grilled, not fried, not roasted....it's a boiled hodge podge of "STUFF" thrown into a pot and picked through. If you can Imagine a medieval family eating out of a cauldron in a fireplace cooking whatever the "catch of the day" was, that is what you get here. Sure....it all has the appearance of an upscale dining appearance and the presentation is very chic.....but in the end you are getting boiled slop. There is no candy coating this....you and everyone else at your table is putting beef bits, pork slices, shrimp, scallops, vegetables, tofu, what looked like clotted blood and any one of about 100 items into boiling broth and picking it out and eating out of the same pot. The couple next to us tried to get the food items out of the cauldron and accidentally dropped their small plate into the broth. This was the same plate that the waiters touched and brought to the table and the diner was holding, it fell into the broth, they fished it out and continued eating. In a word DISGUSTING ! If you think that you're in for a hip new 21st century eating experience this may be just the place for you. As for me....I'll take any one of the 1000 other dining choices that are available to me here in Central New Jersey. If I want a faux primitive experience I'll go to Medial Times, at least I won't be eating my companions food mixed...
Read moreFirst off, for the best experience, I really recommend getting the Premium VIP plan. This is a lovely restaurant for a date, family dinners, hanging out or business. I've came here several times on different occasions, and every time I come here, I leave happy and full. To start off, if you don't have a great spice tolerance, there is a mild milky-savory beef bone broth. However, if you are adventurous, love spices and spicy-kick, please get the spicy broth. This establishment is also an AYCE, so there is a good amount of choices and selections even with the basic plan to enjoy with. A good amount of vegetables, mushrooms, plenty of different types of entrails/other meat-products than specific meat-cuts you request. I personally love Tripe, and Black Fungus, it soaks up the broth so well. I'm a simple person, I go for the meats. Spring Lamb & Prime-aged Lamb are good if you like a mix of lean with a tiny bit of fat, its texture is chewy yet soft. If you want a meatier texture with less fat, go for Ox Tongue, and Angus. My personal favorites cause I like fattier meats: is the Wagyu beef and Beef Short plate. There is also a nice array choices of sauces-toppings you can make, they do change it from time to time, but keep an eye out for Yuzu and Thai Chili or a Chili paste. But mixing with some green onions, sesame sauce (generously), chili oil (crisp if you dig the bottom a bit), peanut butter sauce, a few splashes of chinese black vinegar, you got yourself a BOMB sauce. Feel free to try out different combinations! Lastly, there's a fountain of drinks, however, there's some side choices of exclusive drinks that are reserved for Premium VIP customers only: Wintermelon Tea and Sour Plum Tea is heavenly refreshing. ALSO, Staff is super friendly, understanding, the price for the quality of the service and food is phenomenal, please appreciate them and tip generously, they...
