I have been eating with my family at this restaurant since I was 16. At that time it was the Library III. Even then when we pulled up to a restaurant that looked like a house I wondered what the food would be like. It was my first time eating a Filet-Mignon. I was a big kid. I ended up eating an 18 oz filet that the chef said he had to butterfly. I looked at my dad with questioning eyes and a turned-up nose. The chef laughed and said I won't butterfly it but it may take a bit longer to cook. That was fine because I dug into the chilled plates, amazing salad bar and fresh baked bread. We'd eaten there a lot over the years. Since moving out of the shore area I had not had the pleasure. My last taste of Library III was almost 20 years ago. It was still delicious. On a trip back to the shore a few years ago I saw that it was closed. While there are many fabulous restaurants around the shore, LIII held a special place in my heart. I was extremely saddened to see it had closed. Last year my niece in Vineland told me that it had re-opened with the name LB One. This past weekend my wife and I found ourselves at the Shore for a family reunion. There was no way I was going to miss the opportunity to eat at LB One. It was a fabulous, amazing dining experience. The Ahi Tuna and the Shrimp Cocktail hit a home run. The cocktail sauce was rich and spicy. My wife had red snapper and I had the prime rib with a 10 oz lobster tail. I'm still a big kid. And Terry (I hope I spelled her name right) was our server. A pro who had also been a patron at the Library since she was a tot. Ruth's Chris---eat your heart out. LB One is the clear winner for beef and seafood...
Read moreRIP Sunday Prime Rib Special. Unfortunately the Sunday Prime Rib that came in a little cheaper than the menu price with the inclusion of a free dessert is no more. I've been going to LB one since I was a youngster with my dad when it was the Library and more recently with my wife and family for the last 15 years.
The prime rib special on Sundays, which includes dessert, was probably one of the best dinner deals in Atlantic county over the last decade. $19.95 about 10 years ago and then it's increased by $2 every couple of years. I believe at it's most recent offering it was up to either $27.95 or $29.95, which was still a good deal. Their prime rib is still on point, but many of the other cuts of steak I've had are probably more in the average category.
The prime rib, which is no longer offered as a special on Sundays is now up to $36.95 and to me the value is totally gone. They've replaced it with a meatloaf special for $26.95. Their ribeye special on Wednesday was also replaced with a stuffed pork chop for $34.95. I also don't think the specials come with dessert anymore. Dang!
Lastly, in my last 3-4 visits I've noticed a colder, less welcoming vibe amongst the staff. If you walk in without a reservation the hostess almost acts as if you're trespassing. The waitresses are so so, and at their worst rude, which we experienced as a party of 14 on a previous visit for Mothers Day. I won't say I won't be back, but I'll be back much less often unless things take a turn. Prices going up and service going down isn't a great combo. Hopefully things improve, but as a patron for a couple decades my family has certainly noticed a...
Read moreI made a reservation well in advance for my wife for our anniversary as she likes the food. I was asked to call 30 minutes before to make sure they had the prime rib. They informed me they did. I asked are u sure. They said yes. We drove out in a bad storm so my wife could eat. When we get there we are told they were out again after calling 30 minutes before. I then am upset and a waitress gets a attitude with me because I was lied to and humiliates me and degrades me and then goes and gets a woman who says she is the manager. I tell her it's not the way to treat customers by lying to them and our night was ruined by such lies. I explained that I followed every rule they asked me too. We went back and fourth and I told her I was just going to leave a bad review because of my experience. She said I threatened her. Is it a threat to let people know about local places that LIE to customers? That's when Paul comes out after his waitress treated me like garbage, gave me an attitude, his other employees Lied to get us to come to restaurant and Ruined my wife's night and told me to leave because I was upset that his business LIED to customers and Treated them like garbage. I know someone from this business will have an excuse but what You Won't see from Paul and his employees is taking responsibility for how they treat people when they LIE! Do yourself a favor and eat at a place that takes responsibility that they treat customers this...
