I love this place, don't get over here as often as I'd like since I'm not living/working in the neighborhood any longer. I like their rolled tacos the best out of all the various local quick Mexican eateries (and I've tried most of them) One of the reasons I like Rancho Villa's the best is because they don't charge extra for lettuce and tomatoes, and they are not stingy, they put a generous amount of lettuce tomato and shredded cheese on top. You can order either beef or chicken rolled tacos. The guacamole is made fresh and is full of avocado, they don't mix sour cream in it, the sour cream is available separately. You can order them with the sauces on the side if you wish. For a small fee, you can also order larger portions of guacamole or sour cream. Another one of my favorite things about this restaurant is that their free salsa bar also includes free corn chips, which are available whether ordering dine in or take out. They have reduced the size of the bags for the take out option: they used to use the #4 paper bags, now they are #2 which are half the size. You can always fill an additional bag or two, especially if you have a larger party. There is a sign asking " please limit the amount of chips and salsa to that which will be consumed" - apparently there was too much waste (which of course would be costly for them if left unchecked) The service was, as always extra pleasant, I always get friendly service here. The meal was just as delicious as I remembered, I will definitely be back. They changed their hours, they...
Read moreWe don't live in the area but visit the area regularly. This place was fantastic. I ordered a chili relleño burrito with carne asada added. It also comes with rice and beans which I skipped the beans. It was excellent. We also ordered a couple reqular tacos with al Pastor and carne asada along with a plate of pollo asado Street tacos. The regular tacos came with a mound of meat stacked on a couple big tortillas and the street tacos were an order of three with double tortillas and the standard toppings of onion and cilantro. The al Pastor was really the most memorable of the meats and I would put it in a relleño burrito the next time I go. Service was great and price was affordable. Also ordered a large bag of chips which was served in a school lunch size paper bag. They were really good as well. I usually go to a different shop but decided on a new place and I wasn't disappointed in the least. I can't wait to try some other items...
Read moreThe way people get sO upSET when they review businesses like this, who work hard for their profit, is beyond me. Especially when it's based on one experience, like "We come here all the time but this one time it wasn't good...1 star... we won't be returning!" I mean sheesh. Humans are gonna human, and while we should expect general consistency in products we pay for, there's sometimes the "bad egg" experience. It's not entirely fair to go sideways in the reviews after one experience, but I digress. Rancho Villas is a solid taco shop. As a 40 year SD native who has had her fair share of Mexican food across the county, I can say this place is good. We've been many times. Our favorites are the breakfast burritos, albondigas soup, rolled tacos, rice, and hot sauce. Customer service is great,...
