A staple of El cajon. El cajon is a saturated market of taco shops. Standing out of such A large variety is often difficult. Silva's, while easily missed due to location issues is arguably one of the best options in the city. Silva's, stands out by quality and quantity. Everyone always has their favorite spot and a lot of locals choose to go here. Thier customer service is also a high point. They often go to any lengths to satisfy your needs. The downside- Location is very poor. Situated nearby and across from the famous Yogurt Mill, Silv's tiny lot between taller building and very inconvenient access and parking make this location had to get to and very easy to drive past. Additionally their sauce game is pretty weak. Their sauce options of red and green are very watery, and aside from some heat offer no flavor. Red is spicier and packs some decent heat, while the green is a weird unnatural nuclear waste green color and has little heat or flavor. Recommendation- I love the Grande burrito, but their breakfast burrito is also a top choice. I do highly recommend this location just bring your own sauce.

Continuing to explore my hypothesis that you can find amazing burritos in literally every California community, I checked out Silva's Taco Shop on a drive between my San Diego office and a jail outside of Yuma. Silva's was the only taco shop in this area that had a 4.5, which is the cut off for a well reviewed fast food place. This was a hash brown/egg/cheese/beans combo where you could add a meat. I added ham and said no to the beans on the theory that it would be a scoop of refried beans, this being the San Diego area. It was hot and fresh, the tortilla was solid and I liked the amount of cheese and how it combined with the hash brown. The egg was uninspired but that's normal. The hot sauce was standard for the area. It was a huge size, no way I could have eaten the whole thing without a fork and knife so I just threw away the last third of it. The restaurant was clean and the cashier was cheerful. It's about a half mile from the 8. Nothing unique but still a burrito you would absolutely kill for in most parts of the country.

I've been coming here since I was 12 years old that's over 20 years ago lol I've never came once and the food not taste the same! It's been the same cook for years!! And you can TASTE the love they put into it! I seriously don't have anything to do in El Cajon but decided to come here just to get the Carne Asada fries with American guacamole! 👌🏽👌🏽 I've tried almost everything on the menu and I'm always satisfied! By far the best taco shop in San Diego! I always feel like home when I come here! Thank you Silva's for the delicious food you're serving!! 👌🏽😋

Horrible and Unprofessional service. My family and I used to love this place and we had been coming here all my life until we noticed the quality of the food was cheap and disgusting. The burritos are so soggy and watery and have a little bit of unflavored meat, tortilla is under cooked a chewy and roll tacos are so cold and stingy with the shredded cheese on top. Took a long break from coming here for that reason but decided to give it another try and place an order. Specifically ordered a carne asada burrito guacamole with no pico, as this burrito was for two kids. Got my order and came home only to cut the burrito to have pico and A LOT of it. Another burrito I had ordered for my mom came out correct but we noticed such little meat and ton of watery pico. The whole burrito was soggy! The kids didn’t want to eat the messed up burrito and I understand mistakes happen but called to see if they can fix their mistake. When I called and explained the guy who took the order, who is the same guy who has been their all this life as if he is never going to do anything productive with his life but work at his families taco shop, immediately got bothered and made it sound like it was my fault for ordering wrong. I didn’t come off rude in anyway but simply explained what happened. Instead of making it right, he was very unprofessional. As if remaking a $10 burrito is really going to affect their business, what bs. Instead I went down the street to Los Garcia’s taco shop where their food is waaayyy better and they actually care about their customers. Their burritos are packed with savory meat and guacamole is fresh. screw Silva’s…that’s the last time my family, friends and I go to this place. GO TO GARCIA’S TACO...

4.6 stars?... How?? Lol I had the breakfast burrito with ham and bacon, I put the beans off to the side. And I had a carnitas quesadilla. The breakfast burrito is okay, nothing to write home about. I'm glad that I had them put the beans off to the side because they were really quite flavorless. The carnitas on the other hand... that was a mistake. It tasted like dog food and I genuinely couldn't eat more than 2 bites. Adding insult to injury they both were terribly overpriced. The woman behind the counter was fine, not super friendly but not rude either. She just seemed over it but no big deal. Overall, definitely will not be coming back. I'd rather be hungry and $26 richer than having eaten here.

Quick note- their house red salsa is pretty tasty. That was the highlight of the meal. The green salsa was an odd fluorescent color, kind of fun to be honest didn't deliver much on flavor. I'd say travel 8min up the road to Acapela in la Mesa. Their salsas are incredible, they have one of the best fish tacos I've ever put in my face & they are very well priced for the quality. I'm kicking myself for not going there. But at least now I know one more Mexican joint to avoid. Rigoberto's in La Mesa is really good too. Their shredded beef quesadilla is EVERYTHING & their prices are also really great for the portion...
