I never thought that I would use the words "dislike" and "Mexican food" in the same sentence. That changed today. I took my son out for a Valentines lunch since I didn't get him any chocolates, but he surprised me yesterday with a large box of truffles (what a great Son)! The atmosphere was decent, there were maybe 3 other tables in use when we arrived around 1:30. Our waitress was sweet, but I got the impression that waitressing was new to her ie: drink refills, and checking in on us etc... I ordered off the lunch menu where you could choose 1 item and it came with rice and beans. I chose a Tamale which was stuffed with chicken. My son chose the Beef tip Chimichanga plate off of the regular menu, and asked that the salad (lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and guacamole) be served on the side as he does not eat veggies of any kind, but he gets it for me to enjoy. (again, great kid 😁). The salsa was okay, 1/2 way between chunky, and picante. The tamale was smothered in a bland red sauce, it tasted off, like it had reached it's expiration date. The rice was flavorless, and lumpy, and the refried beans also tasted stale. Much to my non- vegetable eating son's dismay, the Chimichanga was 99% tomato and onion, and 1% meat. I have never seen a Chimichanga made like this before. As he has a tomato allergy, this posed a problem. After several attempts at flagging down the waitress, we asked her if this was indeed a chimi, and why didn't the description mention the veggies? She went to ask the chef, and looked at the menu description. She said that she was supposed to have informed us about the veggies, but she had never seen the inside of a Chimichanga before, so had no clue. She offered to get him a soft taco, or something else, but his appetite had vanished at this point. I myself managed choked down maybe 1/3 of my meal. When I went to pay, the waitress informed me that she was not charging me for the Chimichanga plate. I had expected to pay for it, so that was a pleasant surprise. The highlight of our lunch was the fancy commode in the ladies room. That kind of says it all. Price...
Read moreFirst time visiting this location. I was eager to try the food! I'm glad another restaurant opened at this location when the previous one closed. We lived in southern California for 12 years so we are very familiar with authentic Mexican food. That said, California Mexican is not the only style of Mexican food. But we can tell when the locals have complained that the food is just too hot. Black pepper is too hot for some of these folks! Well, let me assure you, the heat is still present in the food here! I got the Burrito Guadalajara and enjoyed every bite! Sure, the place is not completely decked out like a fancy Mexican restaurant but there was enough flair for me to enjoy my visit. We will come back to try more dishes and enjoy a very good representation of Mexican food in...
Read moreI've had take out many times. Today, for the first time, my mother took me out to have dinner inside the restaurant. The food was okay, but my mother's food (quickest to make) took an unusually long time to receive. The server came to ask us how our food was, and she hadn't even received her plate, yet. When it finally came out, it wasn't even warm. She also ordered a to-go plate for my sister, and she drove the 20 mins home, only to find out that the food was completely incorrect. The only reason she didn't return to complain was because she didn't want to take the time and use the gas. Pretty...
