Discovered this place after came across fellow Yelpers’ review. I grew up in this area and coming back to get dim sum seemed to be a bit strange. Many years ago, we were the only Asian family in this area. Now dim sum? 😂
I was a bit flabbergasted by its per dish price. No body has $3.98 for dim sum nowadays( it used to be $2.89). Most of the restaurants sell their dim sum at least $5 a piece.
But are the dim sums good? Decent and a good value for the money. Some dim sum items are very good and some are not so good. So it’s a hit and miss with the food. But if you know what to order then you will enjoy the food here.
The restaurant currently serves for take out only. So pickup an ordering sheet and check the following food:
Pineapple buns are good. The bread is soft and the fillings are delicious.
Soy sauce fried noodle and the fried rice noodle( 银针粉)are also highly recommend.
For our lunch today, we ordered sesame balls which were excellent and crispy.
Char Siu buns were not too bad from lunch order so were the char siu pastry.
The followings were not that good:
Gluttonous rice wrapped in lotus leaf-very little filling and not too much of a taste,
Siu Mai - strange taste,
Chow zhou dumpling- totally missed this one as the skins were so thick and not much of fillings inside either.
Got to go back to try some other dim sum and food to nail down the good ones to order. Got to support...
Read moreI've been here twice and both experiences were splendid. My party loved everything we got.
Dim Sum King sits in a small plaza on Garvey Ave and Peck Road South. It can be a bit hard to miss as its an extremely small, hole in the wall, so try using Google Maps or Waze just to be sure you are going to the right place.
Walking inside, as well as seeing the outside can be a bit underwhelming, but if you all did not learn from life already, these places are usually where you can get the best food at a significantly cheaper price and this is indeed the place that lives up to that. There is bit of parking as I can assume the parking lot here does not get too busy, but it can feel a bit cramped at times. The restaurant is also really small, with six tables cramped into their, four of those tables seating four customers and two of them seating two customers.
The service here is great as the people serving me were nice, attentive, and quick. The food here is delicious and cheap, however I did have two different experiences (still good though) with some of the food so I would not say it is consistent. I've ordered almost half the...
Read moreI ordered har gow and the shrimp was rotten. I also ordered fried dough stick. Three pieces came. It was drenching with oil dripping with oil and nowhere inside was a white part as it usually comes when cut.
I didn't even want to try and open the other pork dishes. Others shrimp dishes. I'm just afraid that I am going to get food poisoning. I called the restaurant and there's no one who can speak English and I was asked which online company I used and I told them it's Postmates and they told me that they don't use it even though I said I just received the order that I made from you through post-it and then they would just hung up and after that they will not answer the phone anymore. I hope I don't get food poisoning from their shrimp that I put it in my mouth. Although I spit it out. This was the worst Chinese food ever and the worst service that I got. So please please don't go there. It's not worth your time and they will not give me refund. They would just say sorry or I don't know and...
