I recently visited FunkMyers Rec room in Texas and left extremely disappointed with the overall experience. While the concept of a bar/arcade combination seemed appealing, the establishment's strict dress code policy left a sour taste in my mouth.
Firstly, I was surprised to find out that a plain white T-shirt was considered unacceptable attire. As someone visiting from NYC, where such stringent dress codes are uncommon, I was taken aback by the level of enforcement. It's worth noting that I was wearing an arm brace, which should have warranted some understanding and leniency, but unfortunately, that was not the case.
The lack of flexibility and empathy from the staff was disheartening. Instead of accommodating guests and fostering a welcoming environment, they seemed more focused on adhering to their rigid rules. As a result, my friends and I were turned away, despite being excited to experience the establishment's offerings.
As a customer, I believe that dress codes should be reasonable and considerate of different circumstances. While I understand the need for maintaining a certain atmosphere, refusing entry based on something as trivial as a plain white T-shirt feels excessive and unwarranted.
I had high expectations for FunkMyers Rec room, but this experience has left me with no desire to return. I hope the management takes this feedback constructively and reevaluates their dress code policy to create a more inclusive and customer-friendly...
Read moreThis would be the second time I visit a Funkmeyers Rec Room, and I got to say both were equally entertaining. On this evening, we went earlyish on a Friday night and talk about perfect timing. Not too crowded, with just the right amount of energy,
The video machines were up for grabs, (Pac- Man, Donkey Kong, Mortal Kombat, Centipede and others, the only this missing was an ol pinball machine) while others were watching the college football game on the giant projector screen. I also noticed a stage, not sure what this is for but could be for karaoke. Soon after they lower the lights just a little bit and pump up the music to your favorite 80s & 90s era, you can't help but to dance where you are.
They do have a happy hour, (?) which we had just missed, of course, but still average price on drinks. Our waiter was funny and fast, and makes a great Margarita. There are attentive to their customers as long as you sitting at the bar, other than that you are pretty much on your own. There is second mini bar right smack in the middle of the game area so it's no big deal getting a refill.
Overall I had a great time so much fun, I kissed a girl and I liked it and I will definitely be going back again. If you are of the video arcade generation, you must visit this place for yourself. It's a blast from the past but now you get to do it as an adult and with the beer, how...
Read moreHey, i give highest kudos to the owner of this awesome el paso hangout because! The sound system is top notch, excellent bass and thumping quality. This place knows what music is supposed to be and how it is supposed to sound! And how cool to have a stage and a wonderful big screen theater! I plan to bring all my future dates here. I was telling the lovely and kind Karla bartender here that the Ale House used to be just like Funkmeyer's but Ale House lost its appeal and sound quality as a once stylish hangout in the past. I will return here! I would recommend that you all carry alot more video games like Spy Hunter, Gauntlet, Ms Pac Man, Kung Fu, and Batman.
