Grab your popcorn because this is a long one. My girlfriend and I walked into Golden Corral with expectations similar to our previous experiences with other Golden Corrals; but, gosh darn did they drop the ball tonight. It all started when we walked in. The woman that was serving us drinks seemed to be new and didn't speak much English, which isn't her fault, but there was no one there to help her. When we got to the point of sales system, the same woman didn't know how to swipe our card and proceeded to take the card to the back and ask for help. She did, however, give us our military discount which was a whopping 2.5% of $40 which comes out to a staggering $1. Thanks, Golden Corral for supporting the troops :) I digress. We proceed to find a place to sit, and our options were either not available because the section was closed, or the tables were grossly unsanitary. Next, we get our plates and silverware, which were also grossly unsanitary. At this point we are pretty unsatisfied, but we can't just walk out because we've already paid. Maybe their food won't be that bad. Wrong. Absolutely wrong. Everything was undercooked. Literally everything. The meatloaf was still red on top of hair found in my slice, the rice was hard, the brussels sprouts were rocks, and the red potatoes were hard and tasted like dirt. Additionally, the dinner rolls were undercooked on the bottom and overcooked on the top (how?), and the macaroni and cheese tasted like it came from an elementary school cafeteria. Now the grand finale of the night: the steak. Have you ever heard of a steak sampler? Me neither until we got ours from the grill. Quite literally every corner of each of our steaks were cooked to a different rarity (also how?), not to mention the cuts of steak were the worst I've ever had. Once we've decided that we had enough and decided to leave, we were met by people selling jewelry and blankets in the exit lobby. Safe to say that we will not be returning to this location, nor another Golden Corral for...
Read moreThis is the first time I’ve been at this GC in several years, the primary reason being that my weight is excessive and it’s simply too easy to overeat! In fact, the last time I’d eaten here was also a Veterans Day, when I joined fellow Navy vet (retired) Mike Badley & his wife Maricela. Like then, the queue was lengthy; the wait time may have been as long as eat time! I think Some customers may have increased their time just looking for a space in which to park their (motor)vehicle—something Relatively easy for me as my vehicle was my eBikeKit-assisted CruzBike! Regardless, everybody got along quite well, whether queued outside, in the quadrupled-back amusement park line, or plating their food from the buffet. There was a bit of scarcity of seating, but I was able to share a table with another vet, Rámòn. A half dozen years above me, it was enjoyable to hear his domestic & Vietnan tales. Another vet stopped to ask me about her sitting at this table, but was able to find a better sitting farther away. She did return later, this time to comment that perhaps I ought to keep my bicycle sandals on my socked feet. In mock offense, I stated she was too sensitive—after all, I did bathe/shave/put on deodorant AND a clean T-shirt just for her! All of the GC personnel were extremely professional/friendly/helpful. As expected, the well-prepared food was delicious & nutritious; the deserts seemed really sweet, but then the flavor was doubtlessly enhanced due to my rare enjoyment of it! Though I likely won’t eat here again for another year, I highly recommend sting here, and this excellent restaurant certainly has my coveted “iWheel...
Read moreThanksgiving Day! The long line - expected, holiday, & when we got inside, seated quickly. But then the food lines.... I'm a patient person, HOWEVER, as we got to the meat ( specifically turkey & ham) things REALLY SLOWED down..... Both ran out, the " ham" lady left telling the young man with the turkey carcus to stay....... As all of us patiently waited, the vegetable bins were bare.....2 or 3 different people stopped employees mentioning they were out....." Someone will be right out"....... Now 15 min. later, NO veggies replaced, & the poor young man - knowing we were all waiting, not knowing what to do, started SCRAPING the bones of the turkey..... We LITERALLY got a palm of scraps - including the stuff you normally DONT eat......NOT blaming him, he was trying his best...... About them the woman returned with the ham & cut pieces that would barely cover a ROLL......... Our waiter was sweet & eventually got us some sweet potatoes, I like sweets, but they had apparently poured the brown sugar on top..... They were SO sweet, those of us he was nice enough to get them for, could NOT eat them........ I'm sure you think I'm just a complainer, I am not, I've been on their end, however, this was handled VERY poorly & the fact the others made NO attempt to replace even the vegetables....... As we were leaving we saw plates like we should have gotten go by....... Actual pieces of turkey & ham but after all that time we were not about to get in line for another half hour, to...
