1623 Brewing Company — Restaurant in Eldersburg

Update 6/19: Michael reached out to us personally and apologized for the experience and made it right. I can clearly see he cares about the reputation of this business. Would be willing to try again in the future, hopefully things will be better next time.

Tried this place on a Saturday at 2:30. The beer was well beer nothing to write home about, might as well buy it in the store. food was ok not good just ok. We waited 20 minutes on the outside patio, no service, the wait staff was definitely not attentive or confused or didn’t know what to do because I had to go to the seltzer bar and ask if someone could take our order. The staff member behind the bar took the order for us. Then the table behind us full of young men had 2 different young female staff members check on them multiple times during the time we were there. We had full intentions of ordering another round of beer but still NO staff member came to our table. We literally could have just left without paying. It’s a good thing we are good people and had to go back to the bar and ask to pay. This place can potentially hemorrhage money if they don’t get their staff...

I am giving two stars instead of five ONLY because of two employees that repeatedly removed their masks while at the bar/walking around. They stayed to one side of the bar mainly, but one male employee in particular kept removing his mask around unmasked customers sitting at the bar. The remainder of the staff mostly complied around customers and the taproom. The atmosphere is wonderful and the beer was great. It was this particular employee that made me nervous and aware while he was walking around/working. The other employees did not seem to have a problem being within a foot of him while talking and he had his mask down. He did not appear to take the mask mandate very seriously. Unsafe and I would hope the other employees would implore their coworkers to follow the mask policy while in front of customers. I want to return but might wait until...

May 2025: Had a party in the fireplace area with about 30 people. Everything was excellent. Pre-ordered food off of the large group menu as well as the regular menu. All the food came out perfectly and was perfectly arranged on buffet tables. This place is just great for planned gatherings and the staff are very accomodating.

June 2024: Great brewery and a location for a party. We had a private party in the Barrel (beer making area) room and everything worked out perfectly. The area can hold a max of about 100ppl, we had 75 and rented high top and round tables. Food is catered by Libs Grill and they also did a great job. 1623 handled our use of the space perfectly by allowing us to decorate however we would like as well as allowing us do do final cleanup the morning after.
