Big Daddy's Pizza — Restaurant in Elizabeth City

1st visit - We ordered the big daddy's special pizza. Really good pizza, tasted great, with a lot of toppings. Service was excellent at the bar. 2nd Visit - we ordered a pizza and a calzone to go. The inside of the calzone was meat only no cheese no ricotta, missing the sauce on the side. The pizza looked delicious but was covered with the missing ricotta from the calzone. we could not eat it. We called the store and they told us we would have a food credit. 3rd visit - we told them about the food credit, and while they couldn't find it written down, they did honor it. We ordered a Gyro sub and a pasta bake with the potato wedges as an appetizer. The appetizer was really tasty with lots of toppings and of good size. The Gyro Sub was not what i expected it was supposed to come with a pickle, sauce and chips but I changed this to fries. The gyro sub came on a roll with lettuce, onions, tomato. there was no sauce, no pickle. i ate about 1/2 of the sandwich (without sauce it was way too dry) before i asked for the sauce, never received the pickle. The pasta bake was quite good and my wife thoroughly enjoyed it. Remember they did make good on the last meal by paying for this one, so they do have that as a plus. I would not recommend...

We typically sit in the bar and the staff (Courtney, Lisa & Anne Marie) are excellent and check on us often. There are multiple TVs in the bar area.

As for the food, I reccomend the crab dip, garlic knots, onion rings and chicken wings.

Their bacon Cheeseburger is delicious, yet sometimes over cooked. Chips and a pickle are served with most sandwiches, but you can order fries instead for an additional cost.

The steak & cheese in my opinion does not have enough meat, so order double meat.

The chef salad is great. The gyro sandwich & platter are good. Ask for the pita to be toasted.

The pizza is good, but sometimes can be doughy. Get the stromboli instead to get a crisper crust.

The Chicken Parmesan & other pasta dishes are huge. They put a lot of cheese on these entrees.

Their desserts, including the turtle cheesecake, are fresh & delicious.

They have daily specials (Meatloaf, Fish sandwich, etc.) The Chicken Fried Steak is excellent.

Their chicken sandwich is the only item that I have had that has disappointed. Flat & no flavor.

TO MUCH $ for too 'little' both in quality of the product and the service experience. I've gotten good subs from them in the past and was hoping for a good pizza. I was disappointed in the food and the service. Requested NO onions in the Greek salad and got them. Was greeted swiftly, but 'just another customer' attitude by the wait staff was also disappointing. No flirting, no special treatment, no small talk, all business. Get 'em in, sit 'em down, get their order, serve 'em, charge 'em, get 'em out! What ever happened to the small town pizza parlor where you knew your wait staff and maybe even the cook(s)? So, I sat down, ordered a drink and after talking with the waitress, just decided to get it to go. Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky. This economy sucks! Has for almost the last 4 years! Let's keep America 'friendly'! The rest of the world be damned! I could have went anywhere else to get a quick pizza and salad and drinks to go and gotten the same treatment or just ordered it to be delivered.
