Give Miso a Hard Pass Live review: 12 noon on a Saturday. Just one waitress? Luckily, the counter/drive-through guy helped her out and bussed tables. Cute little place. Not what I expected. Only one table seated and they walked in just before me so I stopped in the restroom. When I sat, the waitress disappeared into the kitchen with the order for the other table. It took just enough time for her to come back for me to look over the menu and reviews. However, two tables sat before she came over. She took the orders from all three tables before putting any of them in. Efficient? Not to customers. Thought about a bento box but ordered the Miso starter and yakiniku with carrots and fried rice and hot green tea. Five other tables were seated before I got halfway through. Seven tables vs one waitress. Simple soup was brought to my table as I ordered, nice touch. Tea came in a coffee mug with a tea bag and charged me $3 for it. Starter plate is on a real plate but with a fried basket paper over it. Grease goes through the paper so why ruin the presentation with it? The food is so greasy, it's dripping. Fried dumplings are wonderfully crispy, but very light on filling. The sauce for them is tasteless. Crab rangoon is extremely too sweet and watery. Egg rolls are pretty tasty. Duck sauce is also extremely watery. As a matter of fact, I don't think i've ever seen duck sauce drip like water. I suspect theyre watering it down to make it go farther. Steamed carrots are good enough. Fried Rice is actually white rice that has been cooked in a brown sauce. It is not fried rice as there are no vegetables in it. It's also not a sticky rice and all the grains just fall apart and it's practically impossible to eat with chopsticks. Yakiniku is very tough and is just fried meat covered in sauce, not meat cooked in sauce. I will sometimes reorder, but I rarely just send back. I sent it back. The only thing to keep me from going hungry when I stopped for lunch is the egg rolls. They're not just simply filled with cabbage and a bit of meat. They are full and filling. If it weren't for the watered down duck sauce they would be a meal in themselves. Though they are also dripping with grease. Waitress did not bother me between every bite. It was probably because she was so busy, but she had the good grace to just make sure I have everything I need and leave me alone to eat. $17 for 2 crab, 2 egg roll, 2 dumpling, and...
Read moreI absolutely love love love Miso’s. Its often my family’s go to restaurant. However, I felt this needed to be written about the staff at the Elizabethton location. The food is great, but the service is far different than the other location(s). I have eaten here about 4 times in the last month. I was hoping one of the servers would get better, but alas, he has not. He is the young man with shoulder length colorful hair. He is nice, but I feel like he isnt really with it at times. Once he charged my card for the wrong amount (much more than what I had). I wasnt mad, but it wasnt able to be fixed by anyone, but the red haired gentleman at least just gave me the difference in cash. The other times the young colorful haired man wasnt attentive, I had to ask for most everything, including more to drink. Today he was sitting behind the counter with his head flipped upside down, running his hands through his hair. Right by food. All the other servers there and the boones creek location are great. Im hoping maybe this young man can just be trained a little more as a server. Again, I love Misos. I dont want anyone to lose a job, but sometimes constructive criticism and retraining goes a...
Read moreWe gave this place three tries, three times we were severely disappointed. Absolutely wonderful food, absolutely unacceptable service.
On our most recent visit we got the same inexperienced server as the previous two visits. We were literally the second table in the entire dining room, and we could barely get any service. We waited nearly ten minutes for the server to finish her conversation with her other table, which, we could tell by the conversation they were having, was full of friends the server knew personally. So we listened to their gossip and idle chatter and our hungry stomachs. For ten minutes.
Then she took our order and had to come back because she missed half of it. Amateur hour, except this is our third such experience with this same server. Same each time.
She made several personal excuses for the bad service, like a child might. Very unprofessional.
But the very least acceptable thing, in my opinion, was how she hurried us to leave, stating that she "got off at 4" and was really pushy.
Again, the food is always spectacular. The service is always "highschool teen" and unprofessional. We will...
