Update: We cut into the cake there was a hair in the cake will be calling jarosch tomorrow again. The chocolate part of the cake was dry there was barely any fruit in it. Sadly won’t be a customer of jarosch anymore this bakery has lost its ambiance & specialty. I miss the jarosch paper jarosch wrapping the small details. My dad even said this is the worst cake I’ve seen in 30 years from jarosch. I am very disappointed with the cake and the service I received today 9/20. My family has been customers of jarosch for over 25 years. We’ve ordered many cakes from here. I ordered a cake for my dad’s birthday, usually we do the flowers for decoration. Well I saw a cake with balloons and confetti on their website from 3 months ago the photo was posted so I thought oh that’s cute for my dad instead of flowers. I expected the cake to look similar to the photo on google. When I saw it I was shocked. I had a family member pick it up since I was working that day. It looks absolutely nothing like the photo and the balloons costed an extra $6 for the design. The confetti also looked atrocious. I called and the lady on the phone was very ignorant and rude saying it’s multiple cake decorators and she doesn’t know what photo I’m talking about she isn’t sitting in front of a computer. I said it’s the only photo with balloons on your site and it says happy birthday Emily on it. She wasn’t very understanding and said it’s not a machine doing it they aren’t all going to be the same we aren’t a factory. Her tone and attitude was rude and not nice no hospitality at all. The cake looks sloppy and rushed and just overall bad cake decorating. I’m hoping it taste better than it looks and that hasn’t changed as well. She gave me a $25 store credit . I expect more from this business you are a family owned business that’s been open for many years and your prices are up there too. An 8 inch cake I paid $52 for I expect more otherwise I would go to jewel or Walmart. I also drive 45 minutes just for this bakery and it is disappointing. You are a bakery making wedding cakes and cakes that cost hundreds of dollars I’m sorry I expect the balloons to look better than someone decorating at Walmart thought this was a special bakery...
Read moreI used Jarosch Bakery for a simple wedding cake. At first I was a bit uncertain of the professionalism of the establishment because I had sent them an email tasting inquiry from their site and they had never gotten back to me. But when I called them up a few days later, they were friendly and quick to accommodate me at schedule an appointment.
Once I walked it, I realized that it was a family run, small bakery and so they probably didn't have someone consistently manning the site and email responses. I had put down a $25 tasting fee before I walked into the bakery, which at first I was irked about, but not only did they tell me it would be deducted from my cake cost, should I get one from them, but I realized why they needed it; they had baked an entire cake with my requested cake flavors and frostings on each layer. Looking back on it, it seems that that would be the best way to give someone an idea of how a fresh cake would taste, but it was wonderful because I could take home the rest of the cake and have my husband, friends and family give me their input on the cake as well.
I only wanted a 14" round cake, no tiers, and they were very accommodating and willing to work with me. I got a red velvet cake and I provided them with some cake toppers and lots of decor toppers (Fake leaves, fake acorns, and paper flowers) for them to arrange as they saw fit. I told them they didn't need to use all of it my any means, but make it pretty, as I trusted their eye. While the cake I received was wonderful and beautiful, I was a bit surprised that they did in fact use all of the decor I gave them. It seemed a bit busy and crowded to me; but that was a very small concern of mine.
The cake itself was wonderful. I'm always a huge fan of red velvet, and this bakery knows how to do it right. I highly recommend their wares, they do...
Read moreCan only comment on the service because never got to the point of ordering and paying after 40 minutes of trying to place a cake 🎂 order. I was there at 2pm on a Thursday where there were plenty of staff. I was told to sit on a bench and someone would come out and help me. A very young gal comes out and directs me to the busy cashier area, where it was very busy and awkward to talk. I showed her a picture of the baby shower cake I liked and asked if the had pictures of decorations they make. She clearly was struggling amd kept running in the back for every question I had. What's worse is other staff could see how long I waited when she would leave me and go in the back and be gone for several minutes. They could see me getting frustrated and I even asked one of them if this gal was new? Finally she comes out with a sheet of paper with scratched handwritten notes for pricing and I had to piece together each price amd my littke cake was going to be way over $100 and I finally was exasperated that I still wasn't clear what I was getting after all that, so I threw my hands up and said to forget it, she walked away and the other young gals were just standing there and I said "are you okay with me walking out?" and one of the gals said "yes I'm OK with that, but I'm not okay with you making that girl cry!" I never meant to hurt her feelings, but it was the staffs job to help her and see it wasn't going well. I wished this went better, I love and support old time family run businesses, but with paying alot nowadays for a cake, I shouldn't order when I felt like it wasn't even going to be what I wanted. And clearly their staff watched this happen and did nothing. I ended up at Jewel to order a boring cake...
