This review is for a catering order......
We placed a large catering order with Jerky Jerk in Rolling Meadows. We were having a family reunion at Busse Woods for 130 people and thought the food at Jerky Jerk would have great options for everyone's taste buds. We ordered jerk chicken (4 large pans), brown stewed chicken (2 large pans), macaroni and cheese (2 large pans), cabbage (2 large pans), candied yams (2 large pans), corn and peppers (2 large pans), rice and beans (2 large pans), and veggie stir fry (1 small pan).
The food was AMAZING!!....and I still have family telling me that this reunion had the BEST food (we have one every year in different host cities). Everything was fresh, hot, seasoned well and full of flavor. The pans were packaged well and we had minimal spillage when we arrived with the pans to Busse Woods. My only tip if you do decide to place a large catering order is to have your pickup time a little before the time you actually need the food. We came after our pickup time and some items were still being prepared (which wasn't an issue for us because we had other food to pickup from some other restaurants.)
I will definitely order from Jerky Jerk again and have recommended Jerk Jerk to...
Read moreI didn't even know this place existed. I get tired of pizza, burgers, Chinese... Etc. My husband joked that we should get Caribbean food. I looked and was surprised there was Caribbean-ish food so close to us. The menu looked great, so we decided to order dinner.
We each ordered the 2 meat/2 side dinner. The photo shown is a little less than half of my food. I had the white meat jerk chicken along with the chicken stew meat. It comes with 2 sides but I wanted to try their other sides so I ordered a couple extra. The white meat is an up-charge. The amount of food was very generous. We each only ate half of our food.
I'm no Caribbean food expert but I know what tastes good, and this food tasted good. The chicken was tender and nicely seasoned. My husband got the jerk and fried chicken. He enjoyed the fried chicken as well. He said the yams were really good too. We each had Mac and cheese, pretty standard but good. I also had extra sides to try. I thought the rice was really good as was the Cabbage. The plantains were perfectly cooked too.
I'm not sure if it's authentic or not, but I do know that the food is good. We both enjoyed it and will...
Read moreMy husband and I spent $80 here and our experience was not as expected. First off, this place is supposed to be open at 11AM, but we waited in the car until 11:15, before someone showed up to open the doors. I got the pick 2 meats and sides: I got the chicken stew and oxtail ( they didn’t have jerk chicken today) with cabbage and rice. The oxtail was VERY salty so my husband who got the oxtail dinner didn’t enjoy his food at all. Chicken stew was good - not gunna lie. The problem starts here: we didn’t order Mac and cheese, but we got Mac and cheese, instead of cabbage. Also my Mac and cheese had a strand of hair in it. It was a short piece, but that made me lose my appetite. I’m really not picky with food, but a random person’s hair in my food really just made me want to puke. That is nasty which tells me this place is not sanitary or the employees need a hair net or something. That’s just basic etiquette. It sucks because we love jerk chicken and oxtail and we were so excited for this food. My husband hates waiting, but he still wanted to wait until the owner comes to open the restaurant. Unfortunately, we will never...
