It's awesome to see the place filled with diners after decades of near desertion. This new restaurant appears to be a hit. Seeing so many customers inside tells us it is worth a visit.

We didn't wait long to go there. I had the most delicious meal in a long time today. It was hard to pick just one choice because everything sounded great. I chose the Goulash and my husband had the Guro Langman.

The ingredients were fresh and high quality. One of the best ingredients in the Guro Lagman was the noodles. They are handmade, similar to egg noodles, and cooked to perfection - chewy and tasty and oh so delicious! A traditional part of Kyrgyzstani foods, they are a must-try.

Our waiter was Askat and he was amazingly good at attending to us. He patiently answered my questions about Kyrgyzstan and its foods. It was a pleasure being waited on by him!

The decor is stunning. Rich brocade window treatments, authentic decorations, and tables, all made in Kyrgyzstan. An interior that speaks to the quality of the restaurant and its food.

I'm extremely happy Des Plaines was chosen for this wonderful restaurant. And it goes without saying that we will return.

Update We ate here again and had different dishes that were equally awesome. Askat recommended Besh Barmak, a traditional Kyrgyzstani dish. I savored every delicious bite. The taste was rich but simple and oh so delicious! We also had Manty which came with a tasty sauce.

I have never experienced such great top notch service even in any of the high end restaurants in Chicago or Los Angeles. As soon as I entered the restaurant server greeted in a traditional way ! I love food and this was the most authentic cuisine from all other Central Asian cuisines,

Hand crafted Lagman : rich flavor , perfect texture. Server said it was freshly made right before they served.

Samsy: A delightful pastry filled with seasoned meat, Samsy is a must-try. The flaky, golden crust encases a savory filling that’s bursting with flavor.

Eggplant Salad: This salad was refreshing blend of tender crispiish eggplant, fresh herbs, fresh tomatoes and cucumber . It’s the perfect appetizer to start your meal.

Katama: A traditional Kyrgyz bread, Katama is soft, fluffy, and pairs wonderfully with the rich flavors of the other dishes.

Fruit Tea: This soothing beverage is a delightful mix of fruits and herbs, perfect balance of sweetness and warmth.

Honey Cake: Save room for dessert because the honey cake is a treat you won’t want to miss. It’s incredibly soft, with layers of honey-flavored goodness that melt in your mouth.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Central Asian cuisine or a newcomer eager to explore, Karavan Restaurant promises an unforgettable dining experience. Each dish is crafted with authenticity and passion, bringing the vibrant flavors of Kyrgyzstan to Chicago.

I can confidently say that Karavan Restaurant serves some of the best food I have ever tasted! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The traditional decor, the pleasant music, and the friendly staff immediately made me feel at home.

Now, let’s talk about the food—WOW! Every single dish was a masterpiece. I started with bo’girsoq, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Then came the manti, which were incredibly juicy and full of rich flavors. And the shashlik? Absolutely mouthwatering! The meat was tender, smoky, and grilled to perfection. You can tell that everything here is made with love and attention to detail.

Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was also top-notch. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. They were happy to explain the menu and make recommendations, which made the experience even better.

This place is a hidden gem for anyone who loves authentic Uzbek cuisine! I would highly recommend Karavan Restaurant to anyone looking for a true taste of Central Asia. Whether you’re a fan of grilled meats, dumplings, or traditional bread, you won’t be disappointed.
