If there is a singular review you are going to read about this place, please make it this one.
My family and I have lived here since 2012. I have gone through middle school, highschool, college, and post college calling this place my home. We have never had issues to the extent we do now.
I hate having to write this but I am completely at my limit here. Not only does my building have issues with rats, bugs, and constant package stealing, but it’s truly the lack of care from management that will set you over the edge.
My parents work hard for every dollar they make, as do I. Having constant fees randomly brought up that make absolutely no sense or were agreed upon to be waived is CRAZY to me. Not to mention how expensive electric bills and water bills come back to you? My parents are never home because they are working HARD to afford this place. The worst part of it all is management does not answer the phone. I just called a bit ago, and they answered and hung up on me as I said hello, ready to ask my question. I understand we are human and busy, but if I have been calling you for hours and trying to get ahold of you, at least text me or email me stating you see and are getting back to me asap. Most of us work 9-5’s and we cannot keep taking off to make it into the office or to have them bail on appointments without notice. Communication is everything, And it’s truly a shame watching this place tumble and fall. Please see just a few pics of...
Read moreHello, I'm writing this to share a very unfortunate experience I had. I lived at Renew Des Plaines for about six years. In August 2025, I had to move out due to unavoidable circumstances. However, upon leaving, they charged me an amount equal to two months' salary and two months' rent, claiming it was due to early lease termination. Despite telling them I was in a difficult financial situation and visiting the office multiple times to explain, they insisted on enforcing the lease rules and took a total of $6,000 from me. They also have not returned the security deposit I paid when I moved in. They stated that it would be used as part of the termination fee. This caused me significant financial harm. Even while I was living there, rent was constantly increasing far beyond what we originally agreed upon. They would add unexplained charges, resulting in inflated bills. Whenever something broke, it would take days or even months to fix. For example, our dishwasher broke in March, and it took 32 full days for them to replace it. Can you imagine that? If you're considering renting from Renew Des Plaines, please be extremely cautious and think twice. Their approach is far from humane. Just sharing my experience in hopes it...
Read moreInfested with mice. On so many requests to fix the mice issue, management responded every time but they couldn’t do absolutely nothing about the issue. After 3 to 4 months of constantly seeing mice and waiting for the issue to be fixed, I personally found all the possible wholes through which the mice could come into the unit and patched them all. I didn’t see them til the end of my lease. Issue with the pipes in the bathroom and kitchen, strong and bad smell was constantly present. We were not sure if it was the smell from the sewerage, we thought it might have been a dead animal in the pipes, the management couldn’t fix it. That was the problem from the start of the lease till the end of it. During summer days, the bad smell/odor was really strong. During winter time, less, but still there. The walls are tin, you can hear other person playing video games, or watch tv. The people from management were responsive and nice, but these important issues were never fixed and it is unacceptable. I told them that the unit needed complete renovation. It’s not fair for the next tenant to go through this mess. I chose 2 stars because the management was nice, and the neighborhood was clean and...
