šššš Marinoās Woodfire Pizza in Elk Grove Village, IL is a gem for pizza lovers!
Walking into Marino's, you're immediately transported to what feels like an old Italian family kitchen, but with a modern twist. The setup might throw you off at firstāorder at the front, grab a number, and wait for your pizza to be brought to your tableābut trust me, it's part of the charm that makes Marinoās special.
The pizza? Absolutely divine. The crust is cooked to perfection in a woodfire oven, giving it that delightful smoky flavor that you just can't get from a regular oven. The toppings are fresh, and the cheese... oh, the cheese! It's like they've got a secret stash from the finest dairy in Italy.
While it's not full service, the ambiance, the food, and even the unique ordering system add up to an experience that's both cozy and delicious. Itās like dining at your Italian grandma's house if she had a degree in culinary arts.
If you're in Elk Grove Village and craving pizza that's a cut above, Marinoās is your spot. Just remember to not expect a waiter to take your order at the table, but do expect to leave with a satisfied belly and a smile.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have a dairy allergy, and Italian is usually a good option because pasta is DF & Italian food relies more on olive oil than butter (plus my family loves pizza). First time at Mariano's, so I asked for an allergen menu, and they didn't seem to know what that is. I explained the allergy issue to the girl taking orders, and she suggested their pasta with garlic & oil. Sounds good, right? Nope! It has butter! Didn't know that until I ate some and could taste it, so I went back and asked again. Apparently they add "a scoop of butter". There's no menu to say what's in stuff, the people working there clearly don't know, and the manager was kind of a jerk about it! He eventually had them make me another plate without butter, but that's really too little too late. I spent the next couple hours watching the hives pop up & will be sick for 2 or 3 days. I got the impression he yelled at the girl taking orders, and yes she should have put "no dairy" or "dairy allergy" on the order, but that is a training issue and just as much his fault as hers. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI feel a little bad writing a poor review but today's order had us pretty disappointed. Ordered from Marinos for the first time a few weeks ago and it was the best pizza we've had in a long time, crispy crust, cooked veggies, etc.
Today's order I must say would stop me from ordering again. I guess maybe a rush in the kitchen or some issues but just not that great.
The crust felt like it was dipped in water, I don't know how else to say this but 1/2 of the inside of the pizza was so soggy all toppings including the cheese slid right off. The toppings were almost undercooked and it felt like they were cooked on the side then added on top. Was a strange taste and I have to say compared to what we had a few weeks ago, not comparable.
The cheese fries were sogged through had absolutely zero crunch or crisp to be found. I mean they were literally wet.
Really not sure what happened today but we were let down, we may give it another shot one day and edit our review based on our experience.
