Rumi's Oasis — Restaurant in Elk Grove

I went first time to this restaurant and it’s also a store. They also have sweets, which they say to a bakery. Also, they have a small part of restaurant which, in my opinion, I would say it is European style not Turkish and I would say that no one cares to clean the tables no one cares to clean the floors Just know about that even you ask to clean a table. You might wait about 15 to 20 minutes for the table to be clean for you, another thing I wanna mention that when you want to order the food, you have to order from kiosk, which is next to the cashier, and if the kiosk does not have paper receipt, it would not work. It would say unavailable until you call someone and tell them hey your machine is not working. Another thing you should know that as soon as you order the food, don’t expect the food to be ready in 30 minutes unless it’s very simple order and very simple food which can be cooked very fast but if you order combo, which is probably BBQ meat with rice and salad or kebab with french fries or loaded fries, be aware you will be waiting between 40 minutes and one hour for the food to be ready to serve if you are the first in line and no one is in front of you or behind you to order, but that’s not guarantee that they will bring your fork,spoon and napkins and plates before serving the food which it happened to me and when we asked, we had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come and give this to us, I want to mention that at the restaurant tables, only six people not full, not busy total six people. Also be aware the drinks are not included. You have to buy them separate, which are usually more expensive than other places. The food I would say is from 19 bucks to $25 per plate but also expect the workers to bring you completely different food that you ordered it because they do not speak English only Turkish and they do not know how to read in English or to read the order that is been printed on the paper. I saw a girl by the cashier waiting to pay her cottage cheese. She waited about 15 minutes for someone to come so she can pay. No one was in line. Only her no one was behind her or in front of her. Besides, one guy was grooming in front of the restaurant for 20 minutes, but he saw the girl standing and waiting for someone to come to pay for the cottage cheese. When I noticed, I told him if he can call someone to help her out then he went and called someone. I also warned other people if they wanted to order the food expected to be at least 60 minutes to wait . When I order the food, there was nobody in line in front of me or behind me and I was surprised that I had to wait 45 minutes just to get the food. after 30 minutes I was going to ask and I ask a person who was at the kitchen when the food were ready. I was told almost done after another 15 minutes I asked again, then someone brought me my order, but not completed then I asked where is the third dish that I order then in about 10 minutes they brought me the last dish which was not even mine. They brought me a simple regular fries. I ordered chicken loaded fries, which is more expensive than they removed from the same bowl, some fries and put a salad with chicken and sauce on top that with the dish that’s why I rate this restaurant the poor I was very disappointed and very upset of the atmosphere of the customer service of the service that they provide at the store the cleanness, never been organized. I want to give this place 5 stars because I know they are just starting out and the food was so good, but I can't based on the following. First, we ordered 1 slice of chocolate cake, 1 chocolate croissant, 1 chicken kabob plate and 1 wrap. You pay before you eat, but I gave them a 20% tip because they are just getting on their feet and I love to see new small businesses succeed. They said they'd bring the food to our table. We sat down inside and they called out someone's name. An older woman went over to get her food. As she got back, she told her friend that the lady said she would bring it to the table and she was annoyed. Soon after, they brought her friend's food to the table, which annoyed her even more. I wondered which of the two services I would get. They called my name and left my food on the counter to pick up, which my husband did. I immediately noticed that the croissant and cake were left off. My husband went to the counter to tell them they forgot it and they acted like they seemed a bit suspect, but they asked him what was forgotten. He told them and they gave him a bag with the croissant and a plate with the cake. We ate our food, which was super delicious and went home. Later I went to eat the chocolate croissant, only it was a regular croissant. Summation: Great food, meh service.

I will try it again and update if it improves. I hope it does because I really like the food and the store itself. The staff were really nice, but inconsistent. I think this may improve as they get in the groove of their new business.

I don't usually write reviews, but If I could, I would give 0 stars to this bakery. I'm writing this because people should know what they're getting themselves into. I ordered a cake for my daughter's wedding on 4th January 2025. It was a horrible and very bad cake. I specifically asked for fresh colourful flowers. They only put a very small amount of white flowers. I asked for a golden rim. We got a light pink very un neat rim. These were bad choices, but my daughter and I overlooked them. It was just aesthetics, and we were willing to move on without complaint. However, when we cut into the cake, we were so disappointed. We personally had a meeting with the staff, we sat down and discussed flavors. After a while, we decided on mango cake with mango and white ganache filling. This was a month ago. We confirmed this by text one week ago. How does it make sense that there was none of that? It was vanilla cake with vanilla filling! It tasted like plain vanilla shop bought packet cake. Tasteless. It was disaster. I paid $420 for an ugly and tasteless cake. My daughter did not deserve this on her special day. I will not recommend this business to anyone. The person who took the order promised us that it will be good cake but it was a waste of cake and waste of money. I am really really upset about it, because it is false advertising and a scam business. Please beware of them, and don't order anything from them....
