Sushimono — Restaurant in California

I had a higher rating in the beginning but lowered my rating over time and especially due to my experience last night on 3/15. My roommates and I are regulars and often go here for a household outing around 1 time or more a month ( group of 7). This place has recently had new management and therefore gone through some changes (not all bad decorations are nice). Well last night 6 of us adults went along with 2 children first we were seated at a table that only had 1 working grill. Mind you you're on a time limit for time you can eat and that includes your grilling time , there are a lot of us that were planning on cooking meat so we asked if we could get moved to another table. The server said no and said all the tables are like that. We asked to get seated at the table we always go to because we know for sure that one works. She got very frustrated and was trying to argue and say no until she went and talked to her manager and they moved us to the other table. Service after that was terrible. Some of the things we ordered never got brought out . I had tofu on the bottom of my rice bowls leading me to believe my bowl wasn't previously cleaned from the miso soup. Our server never came back to give us a refill on drinks we had to ask other servers to get her attention for us. Some of the rolls that were brought out weren't what we ordered but we were weren't trying to be negative because we came there to celebrate a birthday. 3 in our party didn't get eating utensils and since she never came back we had to go grab some ourself. They let us keep 1 single menu for all of us to look at and when she came over she would rush us and you could tell she would get frustrated if we didn't know what we wanted right away. 1 in our party wanted to opt out of the all you can eat and only ordered 1 roll which we've never had a problem with in the past because either way they're making good money off of us. So in the end we kept waiting and waiting for our server for our check ( we tried getting her attention once again in the middle of our dining experience to let her know how we were splitting the check up in advance) we waited for 15 minutes until eventually a member of our party got up and went to get it ourselves. They now added on a policy that if your party is over 6 you automatically get charged an 18% gratuity tip for server ( remember we always went in with 7 people) So on EVERYONES check she got an 18% tip. For 2 adults and 2 kids we paid 100 and only got $2.00 back. They did not tell us u til after we all paid . All of us together our total bill was 169.00 and 18% of that would have only been around $30.00 BUT since everyone was charged 18% she actually made around $60.00 . Also the1 person in our party was still charged all you can eat after only getting 1 roll and was told they're sticking to their policy. Our server was so nice. She earned the one star, But she was the only part of my experience that was delightful. The first thing we noticed was our feet sticking to the floor all the way to the table. It was really sticky. As in, I could hear our shoes peeling off with each step. The table was also sticky. The bathroom was hideously filthy. The crud was creeping up the wall, filthy. You can see where the mop hit and the filth was flaking off in chunks. The light grey tile was black, and it stinks. Our water cups looked like someone had scraped the top across concrete at some point. The plastic was rough and chipped. My husband and I did the all you can eat sushi and bbq option. The menu for all you can eat is way too limited. All the available rolls are spicy or fried. Imitation crab is not acceptable for 23.95 per person. Also, I'm not into cooking my own food if I go out to eat. But, that's their thing. The miso soup tasted like it came in powder form and was reconstituted. The salad dressing? It was straight up mayonnaise squirted out of a bottle. The rice in the nigiri fell apart on every piece before I could get them to my plate or mouth. The bbq tiger shrimp was marinated in the shell, which was way too messy. Especially considering I had to use scissors to try and deveign them myself. At the table. With my fingers. Gross. The bbq beef was good, but if you give everyone scissors because the pieces are too big, make the pieces smaller. My tummy was telling me to stop the torture at this point. In fact, I found myself in the foul restroom before the check was paid. I've eaten at places that made me sick before, and even gone back because it was just so tasty. Bottom line is, this place doesn't offer anything worth the experience, so it's not worth the risk. The food preparers had no hair nets, so it's not a shock I found hair in my hand roll. Next time I see a CONDITIONAL PASS FROM THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT for employee hygiene/hand washing and food temperature ON THE FRONT DOOR, I will turn right back around and head somewhere else. My family and I spent nearly 100$ at this Establishment and were subsequently rewarded with undercooked AND overpriced food.

-Undercooked Appetizers -EXTREMELY SMALL PORTIONS: I ordered a "Mono Yummy Boat" and I quite literally would have been better served placing a large order at Panda Express

I do not care if this "Restaurant" is Family-Owned: Cause this ain't it.

If times are that hard on the yard - Shut down your physical locale and save money on the Lease by buying a Food Truck.

Tear down your "Business Plan", get a Truck, and start anew - Because frankly given the amount of money spent, this is nothing short of a grave Offense.
