I don’t know where to start. There was no evidence of an organized restaurant when we first arrived. We saw a few ppl sitting in a small area so figured it must be it. We put together a table for ourselves that had actual chairs since a picnic table was not going to work. Well over 10 minutes of being at a table there was zero acknowledgement or service. Figured out it was an ask situation and navigated over to the small bar angled away from tables in a corner. Bartender appeared annoyed being asked about food and drink options but did reluctantly hand over 2 menus for 4 people. Instructions were to return to bar to place food and drink order. When we did the table waters were served in small solo cups and the drink requested was unavailable due to lack of a basic alcohol needed to make it. Instead the person behind the bar offered a can of alcohol pre-mixed drink but then sighed heavily when asked what flavors they had. Alright, whatever you have in the fridge is good enough. 25 minutes later what was delivered by an unidentified random person in a t-shirt was terrible. Absolutely not the correct food ordered, not as described on the menu food, and not even close to what should be allowed by simple healthy and sanitation guidelines. No plates, utensils or napkins. Said random person dumped three appetizers on table and walked away without saying a word. To say we lightly picked at the food is an understatement. There wasn’t a sweet potato appetizer on the menu but that was one of three put on the table. Regardless if they were sweet or regular fries they were cold and soggy to the touch. Second app was “vegetables with hummus” this impressive dish included 2 pieces of celery and a few broken carrots under a handful of mini- pita breads. The “grilled chicken nachos” had large chicken chewy cubes on a plate of stale chips and a strange very orange filmy cheese. To say the Tiki place had similar quality to a high school concession stand would be an insult to the concession stand. The most positive thing is that the actual entree was never delivered to our table and we were spared whatever disaster that would’ve been. Unless you’re a very needed and long overdue Health Inspector it would be a waste of your...
Read moreI've given this place so many chances since the ownership change a few years ago, but it just keeps going down hill. Once a year, I subject myself to the tiki bar hoping that someone competent has taken over, and every year I'm disappointed even more. Tonight was a new low. Service was awful and downright aggressive. The food was so bad that I would beg for Taco Bell.
This is the first restaurant/bar in my life that didn't have a diet cola option. They also didn't have milk or napkins. They seemed annoyed that we wanted to order food, and actively avoided speaking or looking at us....weird considering it was half empty on a Friday evening in peak season. 5yrs ago this place was packed.
The waitress was clearly not trained and lacked basic social skills. She would disappear for long periods without checking on any of her customers. She missed out on a lot of cash by not refilling drinks or providing basics (ketchup, napkins, silverware). She also forgot our fries on one order and by the time she brought them out ("it'll only take three minutes") we had finished eating and were ready for the bill.
You can see in the photos that the nachos were canned dry chicken and jarred sliced jalapenos on crappy chips with a light dusting of cheap cheese. An 18yr old in college kid can do better in a microwave. For 15ish dollars, this is crazy.
The Parmesan truffle fries were bargain frozen fries with a spice blend and then loose Parmesan flakes on top...the Parmesan just fell off when you tried to grab one, which defeats the purpose.
The burger was a crappy frozen patty, and the brats were "soft" according to my son.
Finally, the place has been completely neglected. The decoration hasn't changed or been maintained since my first review 8yrs ago. The place is literally rotting and falling apart.
The tiki bar WAS great, and could be again. They just need a competent manager who trains their employees, maintains the property, and focuses on simple...
Read moreDefinitely the worst dining experience I've ever had. I had a burger and fries and they were cold and the fries did not seem fresh all. The server missed the sauce I asked for on the side and never brought it. My friend was missing a sauce that came with her food and the server never apologized but just said "yeah, I can bring you one." Like we were the ones demanding it. And this was 20 minutes after the food came, I was actually done with my food already before he checked on us. Finally brought our check 15 minutes after that and then he asked if we needed separate bills and took a while to come back again. Except that he split the checks evenly which is not what we wanted but at this point, my friend just gave me cash because hers was more expensive (but we never got an itemized receipt so we were just guessing the costs). Also, everybody else on here is right. The drinks are watered down, I just had a soda and it was watered down. I used to be a server in bartender myself, so I am more patient with mistakes sometimes but this was ridiculous. This is one of the first times that I've ever given a bad tip in my life. Please get better help or better training. The lake is so beautiful but this experience was a really bad...
