The restaurant is in the hotel lobby and is an inviting space. We were staying at a nearby hotel and saw this restaurant was close by. We were told to choose a table, as it was not busy. After a few minutes, a hostess brought menus and said our server was busy but would be with us shortly. When she came, we asked what the soup du jour was and she said meatball soup, which my wife ordered. I ordered the Cajun pasta, which was supposedly to come with penne pasta, which I like. We also ordered hot tea. The tea came, but with no spoons, no sugar, and no saucer to put our used tea bags on. Also, we were not asked if we’d like some water. I had to ask for all of these, which were provided. Then, we were informed that the meatball soup was in fact steak soup, whatever that is. It was more like bad beef stew. It was greasy, and the veggies were mush. My Cajun pasta came with spaghetti instead of penne pasta. Our server explained that they had run out of penne. How does a restaurant run out of something so basic as penne when it is a key ingredient in a permanent menu item? The dish itself, despite the absence of penne, was not bad. Just a tad spicy but within range. However it was short on the mentioned seasonal veggies, being as it was just green and red peppers, which are pretty much always in season. All in all, sadly just not up to par. There’s potential, but they need to step...
Read moreOnly reason I’m putting two stars is because I used to come here a lot when I had a long job in Elko back in 2020. Would have given it 4-5 stars back then.
But tonight I rolled back into Elko for the first time in almost 2 years and thought I’m gonna get a room at my favorite hotel/restaurant. (My room is very nice, this post is only about the restaurant). I ordered my usual rib eye and got served a very sad piece of cow. The steaks here used to be a solid 3/4” to 1” thick, this one was under 3/4” and way more grissle or fat than I would pay $33 dollars for.
When I sent it back my waitress was full of excuses. Oh it must have been the last one or just a bad one in general. Then why did your cook prepare it and send it to me? If it was just one bad steak, then why even cook it? Do I just look like someone who would take it?
Used to be my favorite spots in town, I spent the last couple years recommending this place to friends passing through. No more. I’m done.
I think this is one those places that started strong, and acted high class, but ain’t worth your time unless you can’t drive and are already...
Read moreI brought a group of women here last night to celebrate my birthday. It was an awesome choice. The atmosphere in the Burger house is fresh and modern. The menu is on the small side with only a couple items beyond its namesake unique burgers. However the burgers, made from fresh ground beef, were really good, maybe even the best I’ve had in Elko and our server was pretty attentive as well. After reading other reviews about the reliability of being open, I called ahead to be certain we would be served. The hotel front desk staffed assured me that closing early is no longer an issue. The prices are slightly higher than I would normally expect to pay for a burger locally, and our group experienced a couple small issues (one grilled chicken sandwich was a bit over cooked on the edges, the fries were maybe very slightly overdone plus we had to search several tables to find a filled ketchup bottle) Hopefully these minor things can be fixed easily and raise our next review to a...
