I recently stayed at Elkotel and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience due to several avoidable issues.||1. Cleanliness:|Upon arrival, I discovered an old orange under the bed—an obvious sign that the room hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. To make matters worse, the shower drain was clogged with a large clump of hair, which we had to remove ourselves.||2. Amenities:|There was no body wash provided in the shower, only 2 shampoos, which was inconvenient after a long day of travel. It's a small detail, but one that makes a big difference in guest comfort.||3. Breakfast Experience:|We went to breakfast at 8:50 AM, well before the 9:30 AM end time. Unfortunately, almost everything was gone—no bread, eggs, sausage, pancake batter, yogurt, or even milk. When I politely asked the receptionist for help, her frustrated sigh and dismissive response ("What do you mean 'nothing'?") made us feel uncomfortable. The clattering of dishes and lack of urgency led us to leave without eating.||4. Staff Attitude:|While I understand the staff member was likely overwhelmed—she appeared to be handling reception, breakfast, and housekeeping—her demeanor came across as unwelcoming, which contrasted with the hospitality we had hoped for.||I share this feedback not to complain, but because I believe this hotel has potential. With more attention to cleanliness, amenities, and especially staff training, the guest experience could be greatly improved.||Due to the accumulation of these issues, I kindly requested a refund for the night affected. I did attempt to raise these concerns at checkout but, despite ringing the bell and waiting, no one was available and we had to continue our journey.||After repeated emails to hotel management, even via their sales representative, I eventually got an email that they would grant me 15% reduction on my stay. I said I didn't think that was adequate for the horrible experience we had. Never heard back.|I think the reception never forwarded the email...
Read moreI had a really comfortable stay here and feel some of the older reviews are outdated. It’s clear the hotel has made a lot of improvements since then. Based on my experience, I think the owners have read people's reviews, and improved based on what has been written here.
The hotel is super cute, and has alot of character. Its not the standard boring hotel.
I stayed in a room with a kitchen and two full beds. It was spacious, decorations were cute & matched the lobby. The room was clean, and smelled fresh. I walked barefoot on the floors and my feet stayed clean. The only small thing I noticed was a little dust on one section of the baseboards, but it really wasn’t a big deal. The large tub was amazing! The water was nice and hot.
The pillows were comfortable, and beds were a little more firm than I'd like, but I still slept well and woke up without any soreness.
Having a kitchen was nice. The only thing missing was dish soap, or dishwasher detergent for the dishes, but it wasn’t a big issue.
The hot breakfast was solid and similar to what you’d find at larger chain hotels. Not a continental breakast because there was hot food available. There were eggs, sausage, cereal, bagels, toast, waffles, coffee, juice, packaged ketchup and hot sauce. The only items I didn’t notice were fresh fruit and hard-boiled eggs (which I don’t eat anyway).
The staff were very kind and helpful. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Things I feel could be improved, there was shampoo and conditioner in the shower. I saw soap, wasnt sure if it was for hands and body? Or hands only? One in the shower would be nice. Coffee section could use a little more cleaning, but wasn't a deal breaker for me. Soap in kitchen area for dishes would be helpful and would give me more confidence in knowing that the available dishes have...
Read moreSee below for original post edited today, September 8, 2025. Overall, I’m keeping my rating at four stars. That might be a little generous, however the friendly service without much hassle keeps it at four stars.
Pros- Friendly service. Although curiously as mentioned in another reviews, there was no one at the front desk at around 4 PM. There was a nice couple in front of us calling out….hello? For a couple of minutes before a nice lady came out to help. Sorry I did not get your name.
The room was clean enough. Everything seemed to work in the room. However, the air conditioner blows directly at the bed, so I needed to put some chairs in front of it to keep from getting blasted by the air, which I must say was very cold. So I guess that’s good.
Cons- the breakfast is a complete disaster. My son went for the only edible thing which was a bagel.
The elevator needs to be cleaned out once in a while.
That’s about it. I would stay there again because it’s convenient and inexpensive.. I could see that they were trying and May have already read my review and tagged me as the reviewer.
Keep up the good work. At the same time try and do better.
Ok, so this should be interesting….Staying at the Elkotel tomorrow night 9/3/25. Traveling for work and bringing my 13 year old son along for some experience. Booking.com had this place rated pretty high. However reading the reviews here about bad smells, broken rooms, cockroaches etc has got me a little worried. Starting off with four stars because the price was good. Look for an update to this...
