It was a horrible, disrespectful experience! Our family of 14 visited Mick's on April 12, 2025. We called ahead and were told that we did not need a reservation. Upon arriving, the hostess at the counter yelled "how many of y'all is it? Is this everybody?" which was not a professional way to greet customers. After being seated, I asked the waitress if we could pay separately. She responded yes, and started assigning numbers to help differentiate our orders....at least that's what we thought she was doing. The service continued downhill. She slammed a bucket for shells directly in my space, when my niece across from me was the one eating crabs. I responded that I'm not eating crabs. My niece immediately grabbed the bucket and moved it! Our waitress served our food and drinks from the farthest end of the table hollering out each entree, so I guess the numbers she assigned were not useful! To add insult to injury, four meal items had to be corrected and wasn't done in a timely manner. When I asked the waitress about comping my son-in-law's meal that was about 30 minutes late. She wanted to argue about it. I simply stated that I did not want to argue, because it was my son-in-law's bill. Later on, while speaking with the rude manager, the waitress fabricated the story and said that I argued with her about it. My daughter and I had ordered a lump crab cake which is a $6 upcharge as stated on the menu. When we received our bill, they charged us a $9 upcharge, and the waitress lied and stated that she told us it was $9 but she did not. However, the manager argued with us and told us that she did tell us and asked me if I wanted her to pull the recorded tape. I was stunned! I have never been told that I was being recorded while having dinner at a restaurant. Lastly, there was a major fiasco over the bill. When we finished dining, we were informed that they could only split the bill in three ways. To which I responded that we need it split as initially requested, so that we can pay separately. We waited another 30 minutes or so to get the bills divided. With all the mishaps, the manager never came to our table to apologize for the food issues or anything. However, when I went to talk with her about the $9 upcharge. She was yelling, talking aggressively and making an unnecessary scene. Accused me of being the one causing trouble all night. I responded that I am 66 years old, and I don't have to fabricate or make up stories. She assured me that she stands by her staff and treats them as family. What a horrible example she is setting as a manager and an adult. Upholding lies and not showing those young ladies how to treat people respectfully. Overpriced food, terrible service and a manager who needs training in customer service and mentorship. NO...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE!... general manager reached out and genuinely accepted my review and was so dismayed by the experience my friends and I had Saturday evening offering her sincere apologies with welcoming us back and insisting that we speak to her directly upon our next visit to ensure the real Micks dining experience is felt. Outstanding handling of a review! I certainly give 5 stars for this exceptional and genuine response as a diner to her establishment!
LONG POST: 1st time to Micks this past Saturday with a few friends for the AYCE š¦. We are crab cracking pros who love seafood and get together quite often during the summer weeks for a crab dinner so this seem to be a great option now that our local crabhouse closed for the season. We are used to very lively social fun and happy serving staff where the dining experience is always a good time. We found that this was the complete opposite at Micks. From the hostess counter to the table that vibe was very awkward in that the few staff members (ladies) that we saw working seemed MISERABLE! Nobody spoke said hello no smiles just stressed looking. The server (Alexis) took almost 10mins to get to our table ( dining room was not AT ALL busy) and when she did finally come over she never greeted us introduced herself offered any specials offered any specialty drinks like she wasn't trying to make a sale at ALL. We had to ask and said this was our first time Herr! She never smiled she was very dry and uninterested in her job. Our whole dining time we had to repeatedly ask for the same things over and over again because she would forget and never return with refills or anything that we asked for for that matter. At one point I asked another girl that was tending to the table behind us who was also complaining about the service they were getting ( I think she was a food runner) and asked her for refills on drinks and she just simply said "oh she will get it for you" š²! I couldn't believe it. I think the most personable staff that evening were the younger guys running food they were very upbeat and pleasant. We enjoyed our crabs and soup but the service was horrible and upon leaving we weren't even asked how everything was or invited back like no promotional verbage was had either to keep customers coming back. I don't think we will be returning, this was a mom's dinner night out and we were so excited for a drinks and crab night but that was cut short cause we wanted to finish our crabs and go somewhere else for a good time with drinks. I don't recommend this place for a good time unless you are a bump on a log...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently visited Mick's Seafood for their AYCE option with my boyfriend, and unfortunately, this experience has made me hesitant to return. While I have enjoyed Mick's for several years, this visit was disappointing.
The crabs were decent, albeit a bit light in meat, which I understand is common early in the season. However, the main issue was with the General Manager. She displayed unprofessional behavior and had a rather unpleasant demeanor. Upon arrival, we noticed that the four-seater tables had only one seat available on each side, which was already a red flag. When I requested to move to a different table, I was denied because we were a party of two. Which is understandable.
Things escalated when I borrowed a chair for my purse. The GM approached me, insisting I move my purse and claiming she needed the chair, despite there being several unoccupied chairs throughout the restaurant, including some stacked in a corner. When I politely asked if I could use a chair from another table, she rudely informed me that she doesnāt provide chairs for purses and walked away.
When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told she was the only one available. I expressed my concerns about her rudeness, and instead of addressing the issue, she made snarky remarks and insisted she was "booked for the evening," showing no willingness to help or acknowledge my concerns. It was disheartening to see someone in a managerial position prioritize arguing over accommodating customers.
I will mention that our waitress was extremely nice and provided good service, which was a bright spot in the experience. Itās unfortunate that the management didnāt reflect the same level of hospitality. I would have expected a more professional attitude. It seems this lack of customer service from the GM is a recurring theme, as reflected in her response to other reviews. This experience felt quite tacky, and I hope Mick's can improve their management.
#unprofessionalā¦.and everyone please take heed. Not sure what restaurant owners/ managers argue with customers to address issues/concerns. I only asked for a chair. There were plenty. I didnāt want to sit my purse on the floor or get crabs on it. Itās a bit absurd this is their response. I was still respectful the entire time. This wouldnāt even have been an issue at any other...
