9/12/25 I guess since I already have a review, it doesn't let me review the second time around as a separate post so tagging it to my earlier visit. We were there for the Friday lunch thali. It was so good..plenty to eat. The only item that was lacking was yogurt and pickle. No south indian food is complete without the yogurt and pickle...that should be standard for all meals. We had to ask for it. Food was excellent. My friend had chicken thali and loved her karuvapilai chicken. Of course, the meal is not complete without their yummy dessert that comes with the thali - mango kesari. Great job of serving authentic south indian food.
9/14/25 Catered for our church - Kothamali chicken & mutton suka. Once again, it was excellent. Sorry, didn't take pictures.
We've been to this place at least four times since their unofficial opening. As in any new opening, there will be some tweaking that needs to happen so to give a bad review is not right. Give it time. As it was new, people started pouring in as many, including me were waiting for an authentic South Indian restaurant to open closer to home. I am sure their Cockeysville location had the same issue when they opened but look at it now. Excellent food and service! So the one who gave one star, visit them again. Gautamya and Lavanya gave us excellent service with a smile. Satish, Karthik and their new chef Michael are also customer oriented including the many cooks in the kitchen. Their food is amazing and the ambience is very tasteful. Loved their cutlery too. Simple and elegant. We visited them again on Monday 😂- ordered era thukku, mutton sukka, lamb, chicken vindaloo, nattu kozhi, coconut chicken and masala dosa. The quantity of the food is excellent, never seen this in any restaurant for la carte. Keep it up. Few of our church members came after church two weeks ago. I agree it was crowded. Don't complain that you had to wait. When you go to an upscale American restaurant, don't you wait 30-45 min to be seated? I know today is their grand opening. There will be a crowd, but be patient. Once seated, your service will be excellent and the food will take you back home. Our group's favorite was Era thokku and of course, my favorite is always mutton sukka. Loved the era thukku so much, ordered a take home box as well. God bless you all and thank you for bringing southern cuisine closer to home. Keep up the standard of maintaining the authenticity of the...
Read moreMy first visit to this Sangam here in Ellicott City,MD and this doesn’t disappoint at all. The food was just so good and the service was extremely good as well. Definitely a thumbs up for the Thali meals.
THE FOOD: We went in towards the end of the lunch timings I believe so it was not at all crowded for a Saturday lunchtime. The Veg Thali was the first thing that caught my eye. Paneer Dosa was the other thing that we ordered along with a glass of Badam Milk. The thali was just exquisite with some great flavors and everything was cooked to perfection in my opinion. Sambar, Bittergourd Kuzhambu stood out. The Paneer dosa was a delight as well. The Badam milk seemed bland a little bit and it was just okay. Rice quantity given initially was less so had to request more and they were able to accommodate without any additional charges. Quality of food was good as well.
SERVICE & AMBIENCE: The ambience was excellent. Ample light coming in during the day time and it was quiet as well despite couple of big groups around us. The restrooms were very well maintained. The service was just amazing. The staffs were literally working around us to get us what we wanted without hesitation.
BOTTOMLINE: I would highly recommend this place for some great variety in South Indian food in particular TamilNadu style of cooking. The spice levels were apt and the service was excellent. Would definitely visit this place again. Deserves a 5 star for everything. Keep up the good work!
MY PICKS FOR YOU: Veg...
Read moreI don't like writing reviews for everything. But I got to do that due to my recent food experience in Sangam restaurant at Ellicott city. We ordered an egg kothu parotta (Indian spice-medium) and vazhaipoo vadai with so much expectations hoping to get an authentic Tamilnadu taste. Completely disappointed with the taste and customer service. At first we got the vazhaipoo vadai that didn't have even a small piece or taste of vazhaipoo. It tasted like a regular dhal vada that too crispy outside but under cooked inside. Thumbs down. Next we got the most awaited egg kothu parotta which was our next huge disappointment. There was no masala or any flavour in Kothu parotta. It was so dry and bland like we were eating a plain parotta mixed with egg bhurji. It was a big turn off to eat the dish. So we asked a small cup of salna to mix and eat. Adding fuel to the fire, the salan was our next turn off that was like a mixture of oil and chilli powder with no masala or falvour. On top of this, the customer service was very poor. They didn't even provide a tissue napkin until we asked. I am very well aware that we can't get our native authentic taste in a foreign country restaurant but at least it should have the basic aroma and flavour to satisfy the Indian customer's taste buds. I won't go back to this restaurant in my life time again. Sorry for leaving this negative review but got really...
