My family and I visited No Coast Taqueria hoping to find authentic Mexican food. As Latinos who recently moved here from New York, we’ve struggled to find a decent spot in the area, and we genuinely wanted to like this place — but unfortunately, it was disappointing. All of our tacos were extremely cold, and while the queso was just okay, the experience was soured when I was talked down to as if I was a child for requesting no cheese due to my lactose intolerance. I was told, “That’s an allergy we need to know about,” even though I explained it’s not an allergy — I won’t die from lactose, I simply can’t digest it. There were also some clear signs of inexperience. Many of the menu items, which had Spanish names, were mispronounced by the staff, and at times it seemed like they didn’t fully know what they were selling. The atmosphere didn’t help either — the music was so loud that the waitress had to shout just to take our order. As for the food, the buffalo wings lacked spice, and the hot sauces tasted more like vinegar than anything with real heat. To be fair, I realize they may still be finding their footing since they just opened, so I’m willing to give them another chance in the future once they’ve had more time to settle in. But based on this visit, it just wasn’t a good experience. The staff seemed friendly enough, but if you’re looking for bold flavors, authentic seasoning, and true Mexican spice, this might not be the place for you. However, if you prefer milder “fusion” flavors without much kick, this spot may suit your tastes.

While I have always enjoyed No Coast food truck at local Farmer’s Markets, I admit that I dragged my feet getting out to the brick and mortar location in Ellington. Working hard to make up for that poor decision making by having visited twice in the past 9 days! Fresh, locally sourced menu options with wonderful fusion creations make this place a must-visit now! The queso is not to be missed and Wing Wednesday featured a delicious Teriyaki Buffalo. Attentive front of house staff never left us feeling ignored and back of house staff paid attention to all the little details. Visited with a gluten-free friend who was happy with the many gluten-free options available (though she WAS a bit disappointed that there was beer in the queso, which broke her queso-craving heart. Luckily, the guacamole was just as good!). Looking forward to our next visit already because I haven’t been able to stop thinking about how delicious that quesadilla was on my last visit!

This is my second time eating at No Coast Taqueria and it was just as enjoyable as my first visit a few days prior. Don't go expecting an "authentic" Mexican experience, rather a fun diversion with a great fusion twist to traditional Mexican dishes and street food. This unassuming unit in the strip mall by Kloter Farms is full of fun energy, from the decor to the great staff in the front of the house and in the kitchen. One of the many things I love and appreciate about this restaurant is they make everything from scratch, sourcing fresh ingredients from local farms. Tonight, Megan cheerfully took my order and even offered a Jalapeno sauce that they normally don't put out (she must have sensed my love for flavorful hot sauces). I opted for two of the Smoked Chicken Street Tacos done Gringo style (Gringo style adds a 7-cheese blend, sour crema and shredded lettuce on top of the default garnish of cilantro, scallions, shallots and onions). While you wait, they have board games you can play as well as a Simpson's video game. The tables are comfortable and roomy (It's nice to not feel like you're on top of the neighboring tables). They have a good playlist of music playing (especially if you're Gen X like me) and it wasn't too loud as to hamper any tableside conversation. My order came out super quick tonight (less than 5 minutes) as there was only a couple other tables at the time. As to be expected, it took a bit longer my first visit because it was busy and our table had three people instead of just me, probably 15 minutes if I had to guess, which is still quite reasonable. The flavors are definitely well balanced with the chicken having a good blend of smokiness along with a subtle dry rub blend of spice flavors. The cheese is like the crumbly Mexican cheese that I love, and the sour crema was the perfect balance to the spice of the chicken. All of their sauces are homemade and seasonal. I tried the three they normally put out, with their "Taco Sauce" being my favorite of the three. The sauces do have a bit of a vinegary base to them and don't have much heat if at all, so those of you who are sensitive to heat don't have to worry. The Jalapeno sauce has a mild heat that eventually catches up with you over the course of the meal. Megan mentioned that they're going to be adding a habanero sauce once the peppers are ready (it's GREAT!). I'm definitely looking forward to that as I love a good, blended ghost pepper sauce (shout out to Dragon's Blood Elixir in Woodstock if you're ever looking for a great hot sauce), so I'm not afraid of heat. The two loaded 6" tacos were enough to make me comfortably full. I could stuff a third one down, but I had to save room for the churros, which are absolutely phenomenal!! You get 6 freshly made churros generously coated in a cinnamon sugar with confectioner's sugar sprinkled on top. They make a wonderful dipping sauce from condensed milk with a hint of coffee. It's to die for and easily the best churros I've had since I was stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX.

Some points of interest... they have a reasonable amount of seating, but the place can fill up quick, especially on the weekend. Either get there before the lunch/dinner rush or make use of the wait list on their website (I haven't had to wait yet, but I've seen it go from just a couple tables in use to full capacity in just an hour). Also, they do not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own. If you forget to bring some, there's a package store a few units down in the plaza. There is a moderate uncorking fee if you choose to bring your own alcohol. Make sure to check their website and Facebook page for deals, like their Taco Tuesday $1 off all tacos, Wing Wednesday $1 Tequila-Brined wings and their Happy Hour Deals.

It's not often I try a restaurant and have to come back for more in less than a week. No Coast Taqueria is one of the few that made this happen. Kudos to Beau, Rachel, Megan and the rest of the staff for making this foodie from the next town...

We have been in a few times, and this restaurant has become our favorite local spot! It’s hard to find much variety around here - lots of Italian and American food. I have never been a big Mexican food fan until coming to No Coast! My son loves spice, my husband loves tacos and I love a crispy, perfect French fry so this place hits all of those for our family. We also are gluten free and I was told their fryers are all gluten free and think they should definitely market that more! So many of us are looking for great options for GF dining. I got the special which was a cilantro lime rice bowl with local greens and I decided to add their chicken. If you love spice this is right up your alley! So delicious! We love the garlic French fries with both sauces (or dippy as we call it in our house) we had left over fries to take home and the owner kindly brought us over sauce to go with our to go boxes, unasked. I thought that was super kind and just one of those things that shows you they truly care. We typically get their wings and love the tajin buffalo! My son gets the smash burger every time and if we go anywhere else he requests the “taco place smash burger” 🤣 The board games and vintage video games make everything feel fun and relaxed, I think everyone will love the vibe this place has! Whether it’s date night, family night, take out or dine in, this spot truly is a hidden gem in the community. They are attentive, accommodating, kind, clean, and quick. There is plenty of space for both large and small parties. The price point is very affordable and the value is there with great portion sizes. I think the owners of No Coast deserve all the credit in the world for bringing an awesome concept to our community and delivering excellent hospitality! Can’t wait...

We ate for the first time at No Coast Taqueria yesterday. We arrived at around 4:30pm for an early dinner. It was uncrowded at that time, there were only a few other diners. We were greeted immediately and seated. Our server came over right away with menus and specials for the day. She explained the restaurant concept - not traditional Mexican food - but a modern, creative fusion-inspired take on Mexican cuisine.

For appetizers we ordered Elotes - Mexican street corn - and Guacomole. The street corn was served on the cob, and was creamy and spiced deliciously. The chips served with the guac are made in the restaurant, thin, crispy and dusted with a tasty chili pepper seasoning. They are unlike any we've had.

We each ordered two tacos which change seasonally on the menu. The chicken street tacos had a smoky flavor, accompanied by a house garnish of cilantro, shallots, scallions and onions. We also ordered the Maui Wowie, a smoked chicken taco with bacon jam, pineapple and citrus barbecue sauce. the Sancho Villa was another winner, a more traditional taco with a tasty combination of ground beef and chorizo. We finished the meal with an incredible dessert called Horchata Cotta, which is a vanilla and spiced custard with seasonal fruit and toasted coconut. As we were eating our tacos, the chef-owners came to our table to check on us. The concept started as a food truck, serving local breweries and farmers markets. The restaurant is BYOB, and has vegen options. It has an upbeat vibe and is a fun place to dine.

We are so glad we stopped in and are looking forward to our next visit. Tell your family and friends...
