The Oak House — Restaurant in Elon

I love the Oak House! As a staff member at the local university, I find myself often stopping by for a warm cup of coffee before a busy day and typically grabbing a muffin or scone to go with it. In a non-pandemic world, I love to set up my computer for a bit to get some work done and I find myself to be quite productive. And, every now and again, I'll stop by after work for a glass of wine or a local draft beer. The selections are great and I can always find something that I enjoy.

We visited Saturday and Sunday mornings in September for coffee and late breakfast snacks. The baristas were super friendly and helpful with our order. The latte and cold coffee drinks tasted perfect. The cinnamon scones are “to die for,” I mean better than what I can ever remember having at SBUX, and I’ve eaten more of those than I can recall. I love the chess table and the other games available for use. The atmosphere was so social and friendly. I look forward to attending in the evening for a beer, maybe during “Open Mic Night.” They seem to have found a way to serve a wide variety of tastes. Good concept and well executed. See...

This is the worst coffee shop I have ever been to. The service was awful and the coffee beans had obviously went bad because my friends cold brew tasted RANCID and SOUR!! The matcha I got was extremely pale in color and tasted like dirty spinach water?? The guy working looked like he wanted us to leave and hated his job, if I were his employer I’d be embarrassed for hiring someone so rude. The guy wouldn’t remake my friends drink even though he gave her a drink with very clearly expired ingredients, with that being said I’m pretty sure a cold brew shouldn’t be a yellowish...
