I visited E.I.C for the 1st time while tending to Business downtown. I'm not a coffee drinker unless I'm hung over & I was 12 days past my 3rd year sober. Back to my point, I stopped in to rest my legs but more so because I was curious. I'd read about the soft opening & was skeptical that an upper scale coffee house would flourish on that particular corner. At least 2 similar ventures had not. Well E.I.C. broke the hat trick. There would not be a 3rd Quiet exit from the far corner of Ely Square. The baked goods strategically placed next to the register got my immediate attention & in the euphoric state , captured like a deer in your head lights, I simply forgot that I didn't drink coffee. So when asked what I would like ,I said surprise me. Receiving a slight smirk & a wink, I knew I was busted. She'd seen others dazed by the sight of assorted cakes, brownies, cookies & international delights. Her surprise came Quickly & was spot on. She chose a Carmel & vanilla mixture in a medium roast that pleased my discovered sweet tooth to no end. I've been back to Ely Square 1/2 a dozen times in the 8 months since my 3 yrs sober benchmark & I stopped in the fashionably dignified watering hole for the diverse clientele that would be expected from a courthouse, an adult parole facility, well more than a handful of Government Offices & a couple churches . She hit this one out of the park. The owner that is. And every visit like the 1st ,in my anticipation of the mind boggling decision making process I'm about to implement choosing my baked guilty pleasures . Yes that was plural . I most assuredly & inevitably forget that I don't drink coffee. I certainly never fail to finish mine, while eating my snacks charging my phone and even admiring the personal touch of the decor. I still do not consider myself to be a drinker of coffee. Unless I have business at Ely Square. Because then , I'm All...

Onto the flavors: We both ordered a SOB (South of the Border) wrap, but on gluten free bread, which was toasted to perfection... It. Was. Delish!!!! Highly recommend! Did not have much kick, but could definitely taste the jalapeƱos in it. Since it isnt a premix that they cook with, it could be customized to dietary needs, which is AMAZING!
Had a black coffee, house blend. So good! Also, a sugar free, brown sugar cinnamon iced latte with almond milk. It had a reminiscent taste of a...
