Do-B's — Restaurant in Emporia

First of all, this place has REALLY good food, but IT IS NOT FAST FOOD. Quite the opposite, and they take their time to do it well. We waited about 40 minutes to get our food, which the lady at the counter warned us about, but the wait was worth it. As we waited, it became apparent that they were trying to get together a call-in order of at least 10 meals, and we were behind that, and everyone else waiting. (and this was 12:30 on Saturday afternoon) Anyway, my wife and I both had hamburgers, both excellent, probably the best home-style we've had in quite some time. They don't cook the burgers ahead of time, only after they're ordered, hence the wait. The lady taking the order is the mother of the owner, and exceedingly nice and helpful. If you like iced tea and get frustrated trying to find good iced tea, they have it! (freshly brewed, unsweetened) ‎ Basically, a very nice place, nice staff, clean, and very good, fresh food. Right now on Google, they have 4.8 stars, not an easy feat. The building was a Dairy Queen in a former life, and is cleaned up nicely. You couldn't ask for better food or friendlier service. We found Do-B's on a list of dog-friendly restaurants. When we arrived, we saw that there were no shade umbrellas on the outdoor tables so we asked about that. Within mere moments, a man was outside putting an umbrella up for us. Not only that, he filled a large dog bowl with fresh ice water and had a BIG Milkbone dog biscuit for our little dog.

My husband had the OMG Burger with seasoned fries and a chocolate milk shake. I had the Vegeburger with a side salad and ice tea. My husband said his burger was AMAZING, his fries were good, and the milkshake was excellent, the best he had had for a long time. My food was fantastic!!! I was trying to watch my calories and portions but with food like this, it would take super human efforts to quit eating before it is all gone so I may have to "be good" some other place. I ate it all in one sitting and loved every bite.

Ordered the OMG burger. This burger is ridiculously salty. Almost inedible. I had to wash down each bite until i finally gave up. Have you ever had a meal that there is too much going on? This was that burger. The pastrami with grilled onions probably would have been more than enough, but someone thought it was a good idea to add teryaki sauce to the pastrami? This was a messy burger and as much as i enjoy eating with my hands this had me feeling uncomfortable lol. Fries were good but cold, thats probably my fault since i showed up 4 minutes after the time they said it would be ready. (I told them when i would arrive). My better half ordered the Jayhawker and when I asked how was it she just shrugged and said "meh". No happy dance from her tonight.

The place itself has a chill vibe to it. They also have an outdoor eating area with a second level that i am sure is enjoyable during the warmer months.
