The taste was great! The service was very rude and acted put out to serve a large party (20). The 2 young gals were actually talking under their breath in front of us. Price was a bit steep for portion size. Everything was add on to the $4.25 for small single scoop, so cake cone, sugar cones, waffle cone all extra. I expect waffle to be extra but not cake or waffle! To top it off, outside pricing board was different than indoor pricing, so I inquired about my total being wrong, over charged, I was told it was too expensive to fix the sign outside!!!🤯😂 and of course I was charged the greater price. A little duct tape would go a long way along with a smile on your face! I don't think we'll return. Too much other competition in the area for me to be treated rudely.
Edited in response to owners reply to above comment:
I'd agree there was a lot of excitement as we entered!!!! We're out for ice cream!!!! However, we're not new to eating out with many kids in tow. Actually, we had just came from Rum Bay. Great service and a smile with the same amount of people. Because I sensed the frustration of the 2 girls and their inability to handle it, the under the breath comments started before we even ordered and continued throughout, I made the children line up single file and tell ME what they wanted and I relayed to the girls attending us. They did not even have to take orders from any children. My Sister in law followed suite. Once again, we were very proficient in ordering and making it as easy as possible for the girls. However, this did not deter their negative attitudes and they continued to treat us adults like children. They were very rude to adults. My sister in law asked for a bowl and was met with the response, 'are you sure, another one? I just gave you five.' That's just rude. This is Florida for heaven's sake and the ice cream was melting faster than any of us could eat it. We had 20+ people and asked for 6 bowls! Excuses weren't exactly what I was looking for. An apology to rudeness would be a better response. Anyways, the comment that hits me the hardest is defending or believing that your employee did not say to us that 'the sign was too expensive to replace.'. Someone is lying! I'm here to tell you that we were told, 'it's too expensive to replace!' Why would we make this up? We inquired about the conflicting prices between the signs and that is exactly what we were told! I completely understand the rate of inflation right now. I'm shopping the same grocery stores you are. I'm paying the same prices at the pump, it's insane! We aren't looking for free ice cream! Just looking for service with respect, a possible smile, and explanation to our bill! We were met with attitude, rudeness, and charged more than the sign outside read.
However, if you do want free ice cream, Detwiler's right down the road gives their first time visitors a free scoop!!! They too serve homemade local Yoder's ice cream which is...
Read moreI ordered a hot fudge sundae with double pecans, whipped cream, and a cherry. Two young gals worked behind the counter as if no one else was in the shop. They yapped loudly about a variety of things including whether Jake from Statefarm was hot. The one 'in charge made sure to 'loudly boss around " her co worker and this escalated when the co worker made a weird sound with the shake machine. She continued that she just knew the gal had ruined the machine and she was going to have to make her clean up. There were 6 in our group so this went on and on. When I asked if the ground nuts on my sundae were pecans she very demonstratively stated that they were. No one has ever served me ground pecans on a sundae. That's been my go to for decades. In the end, I paid the bill, $38, declined to tip, and was grateful to leave. I'll bet not nearly as grateful as the co worker trapped there until closing. Won't return for a variety of reasons. The ice cream...
Read moreIce Cream and Service are top shelf. I'm not an ice cream aficionado or connoisseur but if I were, this place would be top of the list. Don't let it size for you. There is a mighty offering within the doors. If you walk in and find a line don't let that deter you. That line tells you the delicious goodness behind the counter is worth waiting for. Of special note is the seasonal offering Key Lime pie Cake ice cream. wow. After having three scoops of something else I was tempted by a sample of this and had to have more.
There are two kinds of people in the world. Those that know about this place, and those that love ice cream and haven't found it yet.
If you've read the other reviews and you see people complaining about the price, none of that is a surprise when you walk in. If you don't like the price, save yourself the effort of going in.
You're paying for a quality product devoid of ingredients you can't pronounce anyway. This place does...
