Englewood Moose Lodge 1933 — Local services in Englewood

I like the atmosphere, the food is ok, good enough for the price. But after my last visit I will never come back to this place. After my boyfriend’s doctor’s appointment, we stopped here for a quick bite at lunch time. We ordered calamari and clam chowder. The waitress seemed to be nice. After we were done with the food, we asked for the check. The bill was a bit over 20$. My boyfriend gave 40$ (2 20$ bills) in cash to the waitress. She asked him if he needed any change. He said to her: “Yes, I would like to get change, please. 10, 20 minutes went by, and she did not come back. The place was not busy at all. And then we saw her chitchatting with other members of the staff. At this point we realized that she was not planning to come back. We called her to come up, and asked about our change. She said that she thought we did not want any change. We were extremely confused. I could hear my boyfriend crystal clear saying that he needed change, and she was standing even closer to him when he said that. So this is beyond me how she could possibly misunderstand him. Moreover, it was not even that loud in the place at that time. I see it as a trick to make us leave a bigger tip without us having any intention to do so. We go out quite a lot. We are not cheap, and always leave a good tip. But I am not leaving a tip that is almost equal to the bill itself after having a quick bite. As we were waiting for the waitress to come back, we were considering an option of just leaving the place, but then we said to ourselves that it was probably the whole purpose of creating that situation, so we decided to stay and get our change. I personally do not like getting in a situation like this, and do not want to be put in a position when I am forced to leave a bigger tip. I used to work as a waitress long time ago, so I know how it works. I respect all the people in the service industry and always give a decent tip. But I am not coming back to this...

I'm beyond Outraged 😡, I've given this place a few tries now, and I'm Discussed I'm a Batchlor Degree Chef 🧑‍🍳, and this Place needs to be immediately Shut Down by the Health department ASAP, I have Photos and a Video As well, of the Discussing Outdoor Salad 🥗 Station and Our Raw Chicken Wings 😡 The Dam salad's are placed in a small refrigerator out side This is a Huge (Culinary No No ,😡), and there Being served on Mug Saucers Not even wrapped up with Saran wrap, and the plates are stacked on one another and Jammed into an outdoor fridge On top of a Countertop Outside!! In this Heat 🤬 it's Disgusting and Cross Contamination BIG!! TIME!! And my chicken Wings 🤔 we're served to me Fxxking!! All Raw, Who in the hell is running this Place, because you're not Running This Place at all 👎😡, I think I'd Drop Dead if I seen the Kitchen!! I'm sure everything is Contaminated, and people have to pay to be a member, and get served Raw and Cross Contaminatioed Food!! As members of what we believe to be a world class Moose Lodge on Anna Maria Island we are a tough critic. A trip to our home on Manasota Key and looking for a change of dinner pace from the typical Key dinning spots we settled on a moose lodge road trip, for the first time.

This lodge was, AWESOME. We chose to sit outside although there was ample seating inside as well. The menu had many selections and the price is of course for very fair.

We are big fans of fried calamari and most places are below average at best; especially non seafood focused establishments but we rolled the dice and ordered it anyway. Easily one of the top 5 we’ve ever had and the best we have had in what seems like forever. Typically it’s cooked in old, dirty grease, a skimpy portion, mainly consisting of oily batter debris. Not this place. It was cooked to perfection, and a massive portion of hearty seafood delight. 🏆 The burger was good according to out teenage vacuum cleaner and our chicken sandwiches were equally good. The only negative to the visit were the French fries. They were either old and frost-bitten, undercooked or both. They were bland and flavorless and just kinda yuck. Having said that, everything else was so good it was a non-issue. Oh, and the service. Our server was lights out. She was friendly, fun, and laser attentive. This was a no-brainer 5-star visit with a most certain return visit next time...
