I think this restrunt need to learn what honest is to serve food. First , if u don’t have liquor licence yet, corkage fee should not be on the menu. Even if u guys don’t charge to customers ,it looks like u guys being nice to customer not charging corkage fee. Truth is u can’t charge it by law. Can’t u put little effort to change price on the menu ? When i check price of braised short rib it’s 60$ on the menu at the restraunt . Then when i ordered, the server said it’s 70$. I never ever have been charged dishes verbally at the restraunts in th usa. And the server never say sorry about it. If u guys aim to be a upscale restraunt , don’t act like selling street food in other countries . I was gonna order course , then server said, it need be booked in advance for 4ppl. Again, then write down on the menu so that customers don’t even bother to think to order without booking in advance with 4ppl. And again, i never heard sorry at all. Service was poor. Not cleaning out before serving new dishes, and move plates in a careless way. And even the server spill food on the table, not saying sorry and not wiping at all. Leave it like that. And never come back to wipe. I never being asked how’s my food like from the server. I think The server was too arrogant to work at the restraunt. As far food , it’a nice to discover the place where sell modernized korean food in NJ. But that’s it. Taste was soso. Even if u guys selling some unique dish that it’s hard to find in NJ or NY, i would not go due to lack of everything ....
Read moreI was so excited to try this place for a friend's birthday. We made reservations for 9 ppl. They told us we had to order in advance and similar dishes as she could not accommodate making multiple dishes (that was a little strange but okay get it since it's a small restaurant). We were also told that we cannot sit together as the tables could not be moved so it would be two separate tables. When we arrived, the tables looked like they can easily be rearranged to pull two together. However we were told that they would have to "redo" the lighting if they moved the tables together so we had to sit two different tables. When our appetizer came out (pajun), it was undercooked and they had to take it back but then we were told there's not enough ingredients to make new ones so they offered us a different appetizer of their choice, not ours. It was BYOB but they could not give us any extra glasses so we had to bring our own. The food itself (that was fully cooked) was actually tasty- although we all ordered the same galbi jjim since we were asked to pick similar dishes. The service was horrible. 9 of us were laughing and talking but we were also asked to be quiet since another couple was eating- by no means were we even close to screaming. I would recommend to go if it's just you and one other person and you don't want to talk but...
Read moreIt was an absolute joy to discover a local gem that serves authentic, upscale yet affordable modern Korean cuisine. I want to give the owner chef a standing ovation and a pat on the back.
Yes, I heard complaints about small portion, but the serving size was perfect for me. If you are a big eater, perhaps this place is not for you. 5 Banchan, 1 soup and 1 small iron pot of Le Staunb were sufficient for me.
Chef owner’s culinary excellence was equally matched by her superior sense of interior design. All furnitures were simply better than typical restaurant-grade furnitures. Plates, bowls and ramekins? It was an absolute joy to eating from carefully crafted art works. I am totally impressed with her pursuit of aesthetic excellence.
It sounds like 2 Michelin Starred restaurant in NYC. Unfortunately, you have to travel to a relatively obscure location in Leonia, NJ. While I am highly praising the owner chef’s excellence in culinary skills and plating skills, I am not sure if I can say the same thing about her business management skills. Location is undesirable, restaurant is lacking reservation system, and you will end up paying 3.5% surcharge for using credit card. Well, it does not scream as a customer-friendly place, right?
Despite these slight negatives, I know I will be a frequent diner here for...
