Been to many places but this one is the first for Don Jose's in Ennis TX. My son's idea to try it after a game of bowling. It's a family restaurant that probably has been in the business for a while. Anyways here is the spill....large family of 13 and the service was great! Bday celebration and wife had the Flauta plate..but....it only came with the 5 pc flautas but were cut in half size to make 10 pcs no beans no rice just Sour cream and lettuce. She said, as so did one of my kids, that the chicken was not spiced very well. Had a funny taste. The kids chicken nuggets has the same weird taste as the flautas and came qith fries. I and one of my sins had the Chicken Mole and I did like it. He didn't. It was on the light spicey sweet taste on well cooked chicken breast. These came with rice and beans and tortillas. I enjoyed it as it was a different mole sauce. One grandkid had the Beef fajita nachos and he said they were good. Another plate was Carne Asada with rice beans and vegetables. He too said it was good. So discretion when you try these dashes. Some might have a different taste experience than some of us did. The wait was also normally long and the air ducts were sweating water drops onto the waiting lobby floor. Watch your step.

Great restaurant. Do not get fooled by people who post bad reviews about this place. The parking lot was almost full when we arrived here. The waitress, Martha, took us to a booth right away, and we ordered the food - a vegetarian fajita, which was not even on the menu. THREE MINUTES LATER the food arrived, and it was awesome - take a look at the video and the pictures we posted. GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE, and GREAT ATMOSPHERE. Martha, the waitress, was excellent! We will return!!!!

This was my first time to this restaurant. I went to the one in waxahachie years ago all the time until it closed. The food was excellent, and the service was awesome. They have the best cheese dip around. I could just eat that stuff all day. The hot sauce was good, no complaints about anything. This place is my new favorite place to eat. Good variety of menu choices. We not disappointed at all. You need to try this place out for sure. God bless!

I was sorely disappointed trying Don Jose's for the first time since they reopened.

I had tried looking up the menu before going because we have 2 toddlers. I don't get a lot of time to look over a menu when seated. Apparently, their Facebook menus are the OLD menus. I was going to have the Tuesday special (visited 7/19/22), only to be told that was an old menu and they have no specials.

I wound up getting the only burrito on the menu, only to find that they include tomatoes in it, when tomatoes were not in the description. I couldn't eat it. I was going to eat my rice and beans, but I couldn't eat them either because one of my toddlers was indulging in mine. My two toddlers asked for rice and beans as their side for their quesadillas. Neither one of them got beans, only rice. One child ate mine, the other ate her grandmother's. My husband's order WASN'T EVEN PUT IN with our meals. It got put in later and thankfully came out quickly, but when he asked for extra sour cream we were charged an extra $2.50 for about two spoonfuls-worth of "extra". He had ordered the taco salad and said that it was overly "watery", "mush", and the lettuce was not good.

When it came time for the check, we were going to split it on two cards. The waitress took one card and not the other and walked off. We were afraid she wasn't even going to split it even after asking, but she came back for something unrelated and we had to remind her and give her the second card.

The only positive, was that our girl was attentive, and kept refilling the drinks.

This was supposed to be my mother's special dinner for her birthday that she requested, and it was a sorely upsetting experience. We won't...

THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER EVER EVER RECEIVED AT A RESTAURANT. THE MANAGEMENT WAS HORRENDOUS. I moved away and haven't eaten here in ages. I remember the food and service being wonderful years ago. I've actually craved the food for so long and was happy to be returning! To say I was extremely disappointed would be a serious understatement. (It was not busy when we attended, we were very polite customers, we did not go in just before they closed, just to make it clear that we weren't difficult to deal with in the first place. We were a party of 6.). Our food took over TWO HOURS and it was all WRONG. TWO HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every plate was incorrect. We didn't receive our drinks, and the waiter even brought drinks that none of us ordered and when we told him they must be for another table he said, "Oh well, I'll just leave them anyway." So we had 4 drinks on our table that were just taking up room. The manger came out to tell us that he fired our waiter on the spot and that he wouldn't charge us for the extra drinks that we didn't even order (OR drink out of). We never asked to speak to a manager, he just came to talk to us and ended up making everything so much worse. He was extremely rude, laughed in my face when I requested our food discounted when it honestly should have been free after 2 hours of waiting and none of them made correctly. I was so embarrassed by my hometown restaurant and will never be dining here again. I wish I could out -5 stars. I can't even type out or explain in words how miserable our...

I was so excited for this place to open, I would literally check at least once a week.. lol Before the remodel it was my favorite place to come eat.I’d recommend it to everyone who came to visit and ate here regularly. I have been to the restaurant maybe 3-4 times since it reopened and the last two times have been really disappointing. My order was terrible, rice was crispy it was so over cooked. The queso on the enchiladas was also over cooked. My server was great, on point with everything tried her best to make it right. The manager that night was a younger lady with dark hair I believe her name Was Martha, she was rude, I saw her look over at us and literally roll her eyes. I was only given a discount for my plate because I had taken ONE bite. The manager never came and addressed the problem, she only rolls her eyes when she looked over at us. The second time I came the server was great, he was attentive and friendly. The problem this time was the queso, it tasted scorched I sent it back and was brought more only it also tasted scorched. The same manager was working this night and again did not address the problem, she was actually the one to bring out our food, and upon doing so was very rude yet again. When I said thank you she looked at me and walked off. This has been my favorite place to come eat ever since I moved here and as I mentioned earlier I’m super disappointed. Hopefully you guys get it together soon. We need good places with friendly people here in this town to go to and have...
