Panaderia Fuentes — Restaurant in Escondido

Only ever had their conchas but theyre great, very light and airy, not cheaply made and dense like store bought ones are. What i really like though is their green tamales. The masa they use is so good, its so soft and not super dry like some other places. My only issue is that theyre really stingy with the filling, every tamale i get is way more masa than meat. Still, theyre delicious, super close by, and made fresh by small business owners!

The place is really tiny so there will sometimes be a line out the door. Its worth it though, you can taste and smell the quality of their pastries. Ive only ever met one girl that works there but she is lovely and very sweet! Very considerate and let us take our time.

4 stars only because the amount of meat they put in their tamales is pretty disappointing, no matter how delicious...

Really like their variety of Mexican baked goods and their prices. Anything with a cream filling or topping and their cheesecake bars. They also make good tamales at a very good price - $1.25. My personal favorite is the chicken. Very small place, so you may have to wait a few minutes. They are fast...

The pastries were great. Don't know what they were called. They were log type, flakey, with semi caramelized suger on top. But what was really outstanding was the tamales. They were out of chicken. We had the pork, and rajas con queso. Will definitely be heading...
