Black Rock Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Escondido

UPDATE: This location has really been coming along. Happy to say it's become one of my favorite spots for coffee and smoothies for the kids.

I didn't have any complaints about this location until my most recent visit, today. For starters, there were only 2 young workers by themselves on a Saturday at about 2pm. That is ridiculous as there should've been at least a third worker/ team lead present. There was a long enough line that surely was overwhelming for only 2 workers. Aside from that issue, I made an online order consisting of 3 drinks and 2 chocolate chip cookies. The worker who gave me my items prepacked my cookies and I didn't think to check given the items were simple. It wasn't until I got to my destination that I realized they have me the wrong cookies (salty caramel). I went back to let them know which is when they then decided to inform me that they were actually out of chocolate chip which is why she gave me salt caramel. That's not appropriate. On top of that, when I said I'd like to return the cookies, she said I'd need to dispute the return with doordash since I ordered online. These cookies are $4 each. The least the worker could've done is tell me from the beginning rather than sneaking completely different flavored Cookies. The drinks are great, but the workers need leadership and proper...

Love this place some days and most days this place doesn't care about your drink they just want to shove the tablet in your face demanding tips when they don't even care.

Our of ordering XL for a week I was convinced they simply do not have XL because they always gave me a large.

I don't know why they are so stingy on ice but ice is part of an iced coffee.

The food is soft like it's going to be good and it never is.

They update the rewards system constantly and reset everyone's points, so that system means nothing to the customers which just feels crappy.

I really loved the coffee most days, but it's so expensive I don't know how often I will be willing to make the gamble that someone who actually cares is working.

Edited from a solid 5 stars a few days ago after consistently going back and hoping for that good experience again and more often than not, leaving sad about my experience.

Ok we are just about done with this location. When they first opened we were excited about it because the Oceanside and Vista locations are good with their drinks. Here? At first they were and now they are very inconsistent with quality of drinks. I don’t know if it’s because they have what appear to be young teenagers left alone but lately drinks are bad. Not enough flavor, low on sweetness, sometimes just taste like water and sugar. We don’t know what is going to be wrong with our drinks anymore. So disappointing and it is no longer worth the drive across the city. Just when we thought, finally something decent other than Starbucks, but NO! Not for long. Sorry but we are no longer coming here. Everybody at this location needs training again on how to make decent drinks. Drinks are below average now. Back to Starbucks...
