The service was Terrible, not only by our waitress, but also from the owner, JoAnn. As we were waiting for our food I was cold because the cold air from the windows gave me the chills. As I was rubbing my hands on my legs I felt something above my hand. As I looked under the table there was a piece of gum hanging down. It was disgusting, so when one of the waitresses came by to refill my tea I asked her if she could remove the gum. She just gave me a dirty look and walked away. So then when our waitress came with our food I asked her if she could remove the gum (because I sure as hell wasn't going to touch it), she mumbled somthing and walked away. She came back with the rest of our food and again I asked her to remove the gum and she stated she couldn't remove the gum until after I left. I told her I wanted it removed now because I didn't want to continue touching this hanging gum. She then got her towel that she cleans the tables with and with major attitude removed the gum. She rolled her eyes at me and went to talk with another server and both of them continued to give me dirty looks. I then went to the bathroom and noticed JoAnn sitting at a booth. I introduced myself and informed her of the situation that had taken place and she told me that her waitresses only clean the top of the tables not the bottom and that she couldn't help what children or adults do with their gum. She then asked me why was I touching under the table anyway. I could not believe what I was hearing. She should be apologizing not making her customers feel uncomfortable and questioning them. As I walked back to our table I looked around and the restrautant and noticed that it was filthy, the window sills were dusty and the ceiling had cobwebs. As I sat down at our booth, I noticed there was also gum on the seat and thought, I probably have gum on my pants too. I was upset with this visit. I then decided to get even with our server. I put syrup around the bottom of my plate so that she could get hey hands sticky. If she wants to give me dirty looks and talk about me, I might as well give her a reason. Maybe I shouldn't have done that, but it made me feel better. We will NEVER go back to this restaurant and I urge anyone who chooses to go eat there to think twice because if there front of the house is dirty, I could only imagine the kitchen. Sorry if I offended anyone...

Went in to have lunch with my BF n uncle who is a mentally disabled person with a mentality of probably a 3 year old who is nonverbal and decided to take him to the ladies restroom before ordering our food n because he is unable to go alone I have to take him into ladies restroom. Well I've never had issue with him anywhere until today when the owner Joann Casados walked in n with an unpleasant look on her face she tells me O I didn't know you were in here so I replied well yes why wouldn't I not be in here n she said you could have had him use the mens restroom n I told her he can't use it alone he's mentally disabled n needs my guidance n she said well you could have gone into the mens restroom because there's urinals for men n we could have put a closed sign until he finished. I told her I've never had any problems taking him into the women's restroom anywhere until now especially because there's stalls to separate each toilet. N of course once I mentioned this to her her attitude changed but still insisted that if I ever went in again to let them know so they could place a closed sign on the door. Well for her information my uncle has never stood up to urinate if that's what she was worried about n so as soon as he was done we walked out n took our business elsewhere. N now we will NEVER go there again nor will my family or friends whom all Love my uncle dearly... Joann really needs to educate herself with the mentally disabled people from our community n know that if she's going to have such a hard time with them then perhaps she should open a 3rd family restroom maybe then she'll start actually getting more business n change...

Clientele was generally over 80, aka dead taste bud crowd. I'm guessing that's where the good reviews are coming from.

The red chili was canned. It was literally rancid. I couldn't eat it and got sick later.

The beans are canned.

Nothing here is fresh except the sopapillas because well you can't freeze those...

The worst tasting food I've had. Maybe sizzler was worse. Maybe.

Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves.

Also, to verify my thoughts I took a look in your dumpsters and rher it was, canned beans, canned tomatoes, canned chili. You are in New Mexico !! In a gaming community. An absolute LAZY and SHAMEFUL business.

*Edit to reply to your reply. Hey! Currently back in Santa fe, sick and throwing up in a gas station bathroom. Thanks for that.

"FYI" Im a trained chef and worked for over 25 years in the industry and none of your food tasted fresh, and none of it was seasoned. If those beans are from Colorado, then they're canned or packed / prepared in a manner that makes them taste canned. Look at your reviews. What a shame. Reported y'all to the health department for that...

Espanola, in my opinion, is one of the last remaining strongholds of authentic Northern New Mexican cuisine, and JoAnn’s Ranch O Casados Restaurant exemplifies this. Despite its unexpected decor—Tiffany-style lighting and wood paneling reminiscent of an early 1980s beer hall or steakhouse—the food is exceptional. The beans were fresh and perfectly cooked along with the posole which was also perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the carne adovada, paired with crisp lettuce and tomato, represents true Northern New Mexican flavors, reflecting the cooks' evident pride. While the coffee was slightly bitter for my liking, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal overall. The service was attentive and great. However, JoAnn’s adds a surcharge to card transactions, which was surprising. Nevertheless, the food prices are reasonable, which offset the additional surcharge charge.

Been stopping here for last couple of years when we're in Espanola and it is always a hit. I tried the relleno plate this last time and WOW, great rellenos with beef and wonderful green chile toppings. It was chile season but many times restaurants will still use machine prepared frozen stock. These were made fresh! Nice. Very nice front and kitchen staff. A few extra skins on the green chile but didn't keep me from enjoying it. Their prices are very reasonable in part by not adding a credit card fee unless you actually use one. I appreciate that. Very fair.

Joann's was always my dad's favorite place to eat going home to Taos. Its been around so long and is a good staple for a taste of new mexican food. The decor is outdated but the service is friendly and quick. The sopapillas were light and fluffy and the chicken tacos I had was just enough at the 1/2 plate. My hubby had the stuffed sopapilla with chicken and green and even that was a good size plate. All in all, its a good place for some norther new mexico cuisine. This was our dinner experience. I n eating there before, the burger was a good choice as well.
