My family and I stopped in after a long drive back from camping. My brother and his wife ordered their food then we ordered ours. We sat outside and patiently waited. My brother and sister in law got their food, but not their shake. My sister mentioned to the kid that she didn't get her shake. He said I'm bringing it with the other shakes and Sunday. Which was weird because that was our order (a separate order). So they ate their food and we still haven't received ours. Another family shows up orders and sits by us. We continue to patiently wait because we know they're busy and the fryers are down. It's now been 45 minutes the other family gets their food. I ask the guy (same guy who took our order) and he says yes you have the 4 juniors. So now he's acknowledged our order twice. Now I'm pretty annoyed. I go inside and no one has any idea what I'm talking about or where my order is. I show him my receipt and he says very rudely, he doesn't know what happened. My husband comes in pretty pissed off and says "I want my money back!". The same kid is still very rude and says there's nothing he can do! My husband is very annoyed and walks out saying "Just give my wife my money back!". The kids still says No I can't do anything for you. Now I'm pretty annoyed because he is very rude and doesn't seem to care at all. I said I know you can give my money back because we just watched you give another lady her money back and I want to talk to the manager. He says no one can help you. I said give me the owners number he said he doesn't know it but I can come back tomorrow for a refund. I say no way I live in Milwaukie and I'm not coming back tomorrow. Finally after about 10 minutes he sends a lady out. She was very helpful and polite. She said they lost some orders and she understands how we feel and she would feel the same way. I said I'm sorry we know they were having problems but that kid didn't need to treat us that was. She refunded my money and we left. My kids are still hungry!! and 2 of our group of 6 got food! I grew up in Estacada and have never been treated this was at Granny's. This was my favorite restaurant as a teen and young adult and my brother and I wanted to show my family the place we grew up with. As I was leaving I saw the owners email address posted on the counter for questions or concerns. I emailed them but got no response. They obviously don't care about customer service at all. NEVER...
Read moreWe placed an order this evening and requested “fresh curly fries.” We received crisscut. (Not overall The issue….but)
I called and they informed us that this was all they had at the time, which would have been fine except the order of crisscut fries we did receive, were inedible. Hard old fractional pieces…. Not fresh… no curly fries… bummer…
We didn’t want to drive back into town over French fries. Although the burgers were edible, they’re never as good as the weekend. Lukewarm/dry Pattie…. Smashed bun, slapped together carelessly…. Just… “I guess I’ll eat it cause I paid 30 bucks for it….ugh”.
Not sure your staffing difference, but if seems like the teenagers working there could care less about making good food… which is a real bummer because a home style burger place is great for a small town. However…. I’m feeling like I would rather order from McDonald’s and make the drive anymore than go to my local home style burger joint….
Just griping. Granny’s used to be always a slam dunk…. Just not anymore. I regret giving a tip….
Hope we see improvement. I suggest having a conversation about quality to your careless teenagers running the weeknights.
Please be...
Read moreAfter a hike to Bagby Hot Springs we needed something to eat before driving back to North Portland. Granny's was a great stop for a one-off restaurant where we didn't feel out of place in our sweat-stained hiking clothes.
There is no indoor seating, but there are several outdoor tables with umbrellas for shade. We enjoyed their monthly special (a Philly Burger) and a milkshake.
The burger was hot and delicious. The bell peppers still had a bit of crunch to them and were spilling with each bite. The fries are good. They appear to be frozen crinkle-cut fries, but were served hot and perfectly salted.
The shake though, was amazing. It was their Red White and Blue shake (blueberry, strawberry, and white chocolate) and it was great. There were chunks of real fruit and the thickness of real ice cream. The consistency was thick, but not overwhelmingly difficult to drink from a straw. I drank on that shake the rest of the way home (about an hour and a half) and it was cold and delicious the whole way.
I probably wouldn't make the trip to Estacade just for Granny's, but I'll be sure to stop in the next time...
