Very inviting atmosphere. The staff was friendly, my waitress was extremely honest. The waitress recommended NOT to have the following: the beef brisket because it can be dry; meatloaf was not flavorful as well as the casserole. The Mac and Cheese was dry.
With that in mind I ordered the following :Pulled pork platter with coleslaw and sweet potato fries, Mild boneless wings, and Cheesecake. I drank sweet tea and coffee. You get bread with honey butter when you get to the table, which is delicious. The bread was the perfect crisp and warm.
Sweet tea: It was not southern sweet tea. Just the normal sweet tea, usually find in the northern states. Mild Boneless wings: Mild sauce was perfect. It had the perfect hint of spicy. if you don't like spice, you can handle this! The chicken was moist and well cooked. Perfection! Coleslaw: Was standard coleslaw, little heavy on the mayo, but well made. Sweet Potato Fries: These were cooked to perfection. Just the right amount of crisp. It appeared they were freshly cut and cooked. They do put cinnamon and sugar on them, which is a little different for me, but they were good. So, don't pour on the salt, like I almost did. Pulled Pork: The pork is smoked and moist. The smoky flavor was not strong, the BBQ sauce was good, but I think that is where most of the smoky flavor came from. It also appeared the pork had extra grease or pork fat added to it to keep it moist. I have had a lot of different smoked pork and this was on the average side. Nothing to try again. Cheesecake: Was big! You get a big portion, so leave room! It was cooked really well and the strawberries were perfect! Recommend!
So, with all of that being said. I only gave a 3 star because after I left and everything started to digest, I was very sick to my stomach all night (started 1 hour after I left). I hope this was not from the pork (this is my suspicion). I would eat here again, and try something else. The prices were reasonable. Good...
Read moreMe and my husband used to love going to Michaels the last two times. The service was horrible. The first time the waitress forgot about us but once we reminded her she became very polite and kept checking in on us and took care of us. The waitress yesterday totally ignored us. She took her order and then we never did see her. Finally, after about 15 minutes we contacted another server and she got our white dress to bring us our drinks and bread. The bread was cold. The other waitresses was back at their table several times and we never saw ours. Then I found her in the back room waiting on a table where we had to wait 15 minutes to get our drink and cold bread. That table got their drinks immediately and she kept going back and forth to them but never coming to us. I hate to say me and my husband will not go back there. We'll drive all the way to Athens so we know we get good service. My husband had to talk to the manager after that. The manager brought us her food and then the waitress came over and she wasn't very friendly at all. Then the the hostess brought us art check. The manager was very polite. Made sure we had everything we wanted and the hostess was very sweet and smiled. She was very good. There's a lot of good waitresses there but we always seem to get the one that don't take care of their table and this way Chris wasn't even new or else I would have gave her benefit of the doubt if she...
Read moreI will not be back. It is good when you do not have any competition in town. The only reason for 3 stars is because they have wonderful servers that are friendly and do a good job with their customers. But their food is way over priced, especially for the portions you get. Their brisket had 3 slices that werent much bigger than pieces of bacon. The sides are very small as well. All 3 of us left hungry and the bill was over $50. What did we get? Brisket plate, chicken tender plate and I cant remember what my other son got. 3 drinks and NO appetizer. I have gladly paid a TON more for meals that were worth it. The tea is very weak and watered down the last 2 times i have been there. Literally tastes like sugar water. The last time I was there i got a New York Strip that was a terrible cut of meat (was it really new York Strip)? That time our bill was over $90. One of the reasons is because of "premiums" charged on a childs plate due to it being Sunday. This pushed my daughters "children's" plate to over $11. Really? Want to make a fortune? Have someone start up a good restaurant in Etowah. But due to population and average age, we will not be that lucky. I hate leaving bad reviews but this place is...
