I came here shortly after the place opened for a staff lunch. At that time, I found the food and experience to be above average and promising.
Fast forward to last night... A friend invited us to meet them there for Trivia Night, so I was looking forward to something similar to what I had initially experienced.
Sadly, I don't think I've ever had a more disappointing eating experience in my 28 years in Eugene. My "banger" was dry, tough, and tasteless.... almost like it had been sitting under a heat lamp most of the afternoon. Same with my side order of Bacon-Gorgonzola Fries... dry, tough, and "old." I think what we got was staged holdovers from the lunch menu, that likely didn't sell at lunchtime. Just a guess.
The staff was pleasant enough, which is nice. But that's not enough to offset the $52 I paid (...not including the tip!) for 2 drinks, 2 horrid bangers, and a plate of old/stale tasting fries.
In retrospect, I should have asked for a refund after the first bite. Also, for establishments like this that have you pay before you get the food... I will be taking cash to tip post-meal, if the meal...
Read more$17.99 for what they called a Chicago dog w/fries. If anyone from Chi-town orders this they will throw it at the wall. First off, it was a 12/1 Hebrew National dog. Should be an 4/1 dog at least for that ridiculous price. But the picture they had showed a 1/4 lb dog, so be careful when you order. Not only did I not get an appropriate dog, but it was cold. Place was stupid busy with beer chugging dads and the families they dragged with them, so I couldn't get back up to the counter in a reasonable amount of time. No table service at the time. Not sure they ever have it.
This was the second time we had been in. The first time we ordered Brats. They split them open and cook them to death. They are dry and crunchy. Its like the owner/cook doesn't get the concept of what people want when they order sausages or dogs. No dry or crunchy requested. And they "can't " cook them without splitting apparently. Wierd that I used to do so for years when I was a cook. Based on the amount of drunks and olds in the place I would assume the place is perfect if you have...
Read moreThis spot has been recommended to me by a half dozen people and with some friends visiting, they had already pegged this as a place they wanted to go!
The atmosphere is low key sports bar, with picnic tables and some high tops to sit at.
We ordered a few different sausages [regular, Bratwurst (which came out as a regular sausage unfortunately), veggie Apple sausage, and duck]. We also got fries and the large pretzel with cheese.
Before we got our food, they came out with a little appetizer of fresh (super soft) bread and their spin on chimichurri (delicious!). The pretzels came out next and they were decent - I’m glad there was some chimichurri leftover because the pretzel:cheese ratio was off. The French fries were delicious but a little soggy.
Everyone’s sausages (minus the Brat that wasn’t) were well received minus the veggie one. The veggie (mine!) had a good taste and a decent texture; I can’t personally comment on the rest.
Overall I think the group felt it was a 4/5; myself I would give it a 3/5. We will likely be back when we have...
