Moderately priced small town Mexican restaurant. Very friendly service. Great charm.

Overall, the food was not exactly what I expected. The refried beans, guacamole, pico, chips and salsa were great and the rice was a tad dry but flavorful.

The taco meat, however, was a bit over seasoned. The chili con carne was much too salty. The queso seemed like it might have been from a can. I was expecting a more authentic/homemade taste.

The sweet tea seemed homemade and delicious. No Room for dessert.

We have lived in Eustace for over 3 years and have been to Hernandez numerous times. First, because we really like Mexican food. Second, it is the only restaurant in our small town that is open for dinner. Third, it has a casual, yet family friendly, atmosphere. Sadly, the food quality has been declining lately. On our most recent visit the Beef Street Tacos I ordered were bland, and the rice & beans were dry. My husband ordered a Taco Salad with chicken and he ended up spending most of the night in the restroom. We won't be going back...

The very best Mexican food. I drive from 40 mins away just to get a plate. They have fresh hot chips, homemade salsa. The beef fajita lunch portion is my favorite. Quality beef seared and seasoned appropriately. The rice is not over seasoned, very authentic taste. The beans are not overly seasoned with garlic like some tex mex restaurants have.
