Zimmerman's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Evans City

My husband and I just moved into the area and were excited to try Zimmerman's Ice Cream tonight after dinner. The ice cream is good, but their customer service is awful. The woman who took our order was very short with us, and when she was handing me my cone it was dropped on the counter in the transfer. It happens, that didn't upset us. But she shut the window really quickly, and when I asked about getting it replaced, she opened the window back up, said "give me that" and very aggressively swiped it out of my hand, clearly annoyed. She got me another, thankfully. I made a comment to her that she is being rude, and she just said "well I have other customers waiting." 2 other people had just arrived, so it was no big line. I wish she had taken care of us as eagerly as she seemed to get to the next people. I was hoping for a friendly small town ice cream shop, but it was not an enjoyable experience. This could have all been handled much better without issue. I'd sooner drive to Debbie Lee, King Kones, Bruster's, or Dairy Queen in the future. I felt that us being customers was really a burden to them and we were treated very poorly. I'll go somewhere else to look...

Good ice cream but they're dog nazis. Most ice cream places allow you to bring your dog. Hell, brusters even gives your dog free ice cream. Not this place. Even tho it's an outdoor shop, they will not allow you to stand at their window with your dog. So if you stop here while walking Fido, you'll be asked to leave. Yes they will forfeit business just cause you brought your pup. Edit: There are now signs all around this place written in sharpie. From no pets to "sit at tables not on" VERY unprofessional. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I'm very offended by the "no pets state law" signs. I feel like they single out pet owners by doing this. If there was another ice cream shop in Evans City, this place would go out of business FAST. Especially if the place advertised its self as pet friendly...

I love this place! If you are like me and love real hard ice cream and think soft serve and frozen custard are gross then you want to come here. If you like soft serve they have it. But the real attraction is the many flavours of ice cream like apple pie and banana cream pie among others. The service is competant and brisk. I also like the fact that they strongly discourage people from seating children on the outside tables. A big WIN in my view. They have bench seating so there is no reason to seat your children on the table. Unless of course your just a disgusting person who likes to leave leaky diaper remains on the tables so no one else...
