Lic's Deli & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Evansville

I’ve frequented Lic’s for pretty much my whole life. I have noticed a pretty big difference in quality and service over the past couple years. A few weeks ago I got a vanilla shake from the Lincoln location. It had absolutely no flavor, just tasted like thick milk. My husband agreed. Tonight I was craving a strawberry shake and I love their strawberry ice cream. I was very disappointed. The first couple sips I thought it just tasted like faint strawberry milk. Once I got home and could look inside I realized it wasn’t blended at all. There was a huge scoop of ice cream in the center with big chunks of mushy strawberries. It truly was not good. I have really never had great service at a Lics either. The employees are nice enough, or don’t talk. Not what you want at an ice cream place. Another thing that drives me nuts is the slow drive thru. If you get stuck behind someone who ordered food, prepare to wait for 10-15 min. I just cannot deal with this place, I had a bad experience a couple years back in Owensboro. And it was just exacerbated by the management who really wanted to learn nothing but excuses. Well, I gave them another shot a couple years later in a different town. And you get the same thing. I know this is gonna sound really trivial and that’s fine, and if you don’t think that, I don’t write good reviews and go check out the rest. So I have this conversation with the person in the drive-through about ice cream, and they asked me about whether I want it double dipped or single dipped and I start asking questions about it as we’ve already decided what flavors and all. CULVERS home of the butter steak burgers you can get a TRIPLE “over a half lb” WITH cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo and pickles for $6.49. I’m must be missing something here.
