Hello! Here's what I thought of this new Mexican restaurant. At least, "new" to me.
Although I have ordered from the El Paisano store, years ago, I have yet to order from the El Paisano restaurant.
I have wanted to stop by for some time now but just haven't had the chance, just yet. Today, that changed. I was in the mood for tacos and beans and rice and I stopped by to check out their menu and sure enough, they had exactly what I wanted.
I ordered the number 13 Taco special; 3 tacos, your choice of meat that comes with complimentary chips and salsa and also comes with Mexican rice and refried beans. I also ordered one of my favorite drinks, the Mandarin Jarritos drink.
The three tacos that I ordered, I chose crispy shells instead of the soft shells and they were very good! Almost expected them to be soggy by the time I got home because anytime I order hard shell tacos from a restaurant and they are delivered or I bring them home, they're almost always soggy and ruined. These, however, were absolutely perfect when I got them home. Crispy, crunchy and filled to the top! I ordered one beef, one chicken and one steak. And, they were all excellent! The tacos came with cucumber slices and limes. The beans and rice that came with the tacos were also excellent The tacos also came with complimentary chips and salsa. The regular salsa was good but chock full of onions and way way too many onions for my liking! It also came with a green salsa and a brownish green salsa and I already know I don't like the green salsa so I left that alone but I tried the brownish green salsa and that was fire! And I don't mean fire as in the slang of fire! I mean, my mouth was on fire. LOL Otherwise, everything was excellent and I would definitely be back for more!
The lovely young lady at the window offered to pop the top for me but I thanked her and told her I was going to take it home and I would pop the top, there.
She also showed me a takeout menu, showing a q code that I could easily snap in order to take me straight to the website to where I can order online. She was very friendly and helpful.
Although I ordered tacos and beans and rice, so much more is available! El Paisano Mexican Grill offers burritos, chimichangas, fajitas, nachos, quesadillas, tortas and bowls. With the bowls, it's your choice of grilled meat or veggies with cheese sauce, Mexican rice and refried beans, topped with lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese and sour cream. All loaded up in a delicious dish!
El Paisano also offers their own specialties like the Pollo Playa; commonly known to most Gringos as "Chicken on the Beach". Also, Pollo Loco (grilled chicken breast on a bed of rice, topped with cheese sauce, lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream, with tortillas). Plus, enchiladas and Steak A La Mexicana (ribeye steak topped with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes with rice, beans and tortillas)!
Also available, Postres! Mexican desserts like churros, flan and pastel tres leches!
If you love good, authentic Mexican food, I highly suggest you check out El Paisano Mexican Grill on 311 S. Green River Rd., (the former Wok-n-roll restaurant)!
Tell 'em Dann sent you! Just kidding! Don't tell them that. They have no...
Read moreI come often to El paisano and make sure to try something different each time . Today I ordered 3 birria tacos for myself 3 for my son a beef burrito for my other son and a side of cheese and rice . This was my first time trying their birria tacos and I can honestly say they were the best I’ve ever had and literally top 5 of meals I’ve eaten and enjoyed. My son started eating his before and warned me that they were super delicious. Their food is always good fresh and they give you big portions at a reasonable price. They have a drive thru for pick up , free parking and the restaurant has been very clean every time i visit. You also receive chips and salsa with your meal as well as several other sauces with your food . I definitely recommend anyone to try El paisano you will...
Read moreIt's clean; everyone is very down to earth, extremely serviceable, efficient and helpful, best of all, the food is very authentic. I just moved from South Texas and their steak ranchero is better here than there, impossible, you may say, but it's true. Ingredients are fresh and very well combined to give out that Mexican authenticity. The Salsa bar is impressive, class, and everything is fresh. The Micheladas are yuuuummmmy!!! Highly recommended!! The only Con is that the tortillas are not made here, but that's all over Evansville, from what I've experienced. Regardless, the flour tortillas are from Chicago and are not bad. This has quickly become my "Go-To" for Mexican food. Highly...
