Had the pleasure of trying out the brand new Osaka Japanese Restaurant on the west side tonight. Great experience!
With our crew of picky eaters, it was a gamble but this place was a home run! One kiddo chose the chicken nuggets and French fries and joyfully ate the entire plate. It was a large portion and definitely kid approved! If you have kiddos, you know not all nuggets make the cut. The other two, however, ventured out a bit and choose the chicken teriyaki hibachi meal. Our tiny reviewers say, “best rice ever!” Again, the meal was a hit and our plates were clean.
Started this review with the kids, because any parent knows pleasing the wild ones is always a feat....but let’s get to it! We started off our experience with a pleasant surprise from the gyoza, it was a different flavor than we have experienced from other Japanese restaurants in town and possibly a new top dumpling! They were lightly fried and served with a great sauce. We followed up with the lullaby sushi roll, a deep fried delicacy! Can’t wait to go back and try more variety! For our main entree, I ordered the steak hibachi with noodles and Richard enjoyed the chicken teriyaki and steak combo with rice. Both great, but we agree the noodles were the shining star! If you love lo mein...you must try them!
To end our night, we all shared the fried ice cream. Huge hit! Chocolate ice cream fried in a golden brown batter with whip cream and chocolate. We shared, but next time, I don’t think I’ll be so nice! It was delicious!
TLDR; great new restaurant...head on over and give them a try! Great variety,...
Read moreI will start by saying the sushi was amazing. Everything was fresh, tight, and well made. That was the highlight.
Our server did her best. There were a few things that they could have done better (recommend drink refills, knowing the menu...), but they were very nice.
Crab Rangoon were not good. Crispy top, chewy bottom, and almost no filling. They were definitely frozen prior. The chili sauce was pretty good.
I'll mention again, the sushi was super good. Although it took over an hour to receive our order (4 types of sushi), it was still fresh to order.
I give 3 stars due to the long wait, the lack of knowledge from the server, and the Crab Rangoon. Also, the floors were sticky, and the seating arrangement was very odd.
Also, I'm pretty sure the manager made our drinks (there is no bar, and I watched the manager hand our server our drinks). $16 for two "special drinks" that were incredibly watered down and not worth it at all.
3 stars. 2.75 for the sushi, .75 for the server, and -2 for the atmosphere, price,...
Read moreFirst time eating here and we will definitely be back. We dined in with a 7 month old and the waiter was very kind and gave us a light up ball to entertain our kid with and got her her own glass of water when asked. We ordered the small sushi boat and for the specialty rolls on it got the bubblegum roll, Ohio River, and the amazing roll. The amazing roll lived up to its name; the sweet chili sauce on it added a nice pop of flavor. The bubblegum roll was equally as good as the amazing roll. Now, the Ohio river roll wasn’t bad but the other two rolls outshined it; we found the Ohio river to be full of veggies and fell apart easy. On our boat we also had tuna nigiri and salmon sashimi; both were satisfying to the taste buds and a great way to end our meal. Oh and the sushi was actually served on a boat; I’ve ordered a boat at a sushi restaurant many times and never had it served this way before. Presentation was excellent! Kind service, excellent food, and clean facility; 5...
