I’d like to start off by saying that I’m an Indian cuisine connoisseur and this review will be 100% honest. The following will be my personal experience at Curries.
Ordering & Starters: Ordering was very simple as the menu specified what dishes were VEGAN for my wife’s diet.(Many Indians are Vegan or Vegetarian so we always appreciate a simple and informative menu)! We ordered 3 appetizers,Vegetable Samosas, Aloo Tiki, Paneer Pakora and a salad to start the evening. The samosas were very delicious and had a nice spicy filling the flavor profile was amazing , the Aloo Tiki was very light and crispy with its potato and lentil filling, lastly the Paneer Pakora was perfect.
Entrees & breads: My wife ordered Chana Masala with a spice level of one. It was savory with a slight sweetness due to the addition of pomegranate. She said it was personally one of the best she’s had. I had the Goat curry with a spice level of four, in my opinion you can tell a lot about an Indian restaurant based on this dish alone. It was definitely the star of my night! It had a rich smoky aroma and the goat was plentiful and cooked absolutely perfect, the meat was tender and the overall execution of this dish was perfect! The curry was spicy and savory and I really appreciate this restaurant for not over doing it with the oil/ghee that can sometimes surface on curries. For the breads my wife had a Tandoori Roti as it was the only Vegan option available. I ordered the Garlic Naan and found it quite flavorful.
Drinks: Drink water folks, spend your money on more Naan! lol
Downsides: I’d say the salad wasn’t what we expected. From our experiences Indian salads come with dressing and ours was rather plain. Additionally, I would say that the breads are very small. Again, this is from my personal experience compared to Indian restaurants we’ve been these were probably some of the smaller ones we have seen. It would also be good if the restaurant offered a few more Vegan options for those with special diets. Many Indians are vegetarian and vegan and we have been to other restaurants that have a selection of vegan friendly breads. Lastly, the seating arrangement is rather limited and I understand that it has a lot to do with space. There are only a three two person tables. Luckily we arrived before prime time and sat at bench.
Final thoughts: I really enjoyed my evening and most importantly I found the food here to be very authentic and flavorful! The food is very reasonably priced and the portions are overall good. I also appreciate the hosts for giving the customer attention when needed and space when dinning. I’ve found that it can sometimes get overwhelming when being asked every 5 min how my food is while also trying to converse and take in my night/pay attention to my date. Overall , I approve this restaurant to be a very good choice if you are looking to dine in a calm atmosphere that offers authentic and delicious Indian...
Read moreI've eaten here three times previously, today was the fourth. We entered the restaurant and were waved to a table... Right by the kitchen, right by the bathroom. Lots of empty tables, but we asked to sit in the WORST POSSIBLE location. Let me get this out of the way... First two times I've eaten here were in the evening. Food was good. Not great, good. Price was a little on the high side but not bad. Third time was the buffet, on a weekday. Food was passable. Decent price. Service was good.
This time it was a Sunday buffet. After being waved (not walked to) to the WORST POSSIBLE table, we were left to sit there. F it, I'm going to get a plate and do the buffet. Walked thru the line, nothing special, nothing special at all. As a matter of fact the buffet trays seemed to be stocked with the bare minimum. Whatever. Sat down, still no one has come to our WORST PISSIBLE table (while lots of open tables mind you) apparently the area our table was in was to be avoided by staff due to... I don't know. Enter your own joke here. The food was AWFUL. The butter chicken sauce was bland. The chicken dry. Dryer. Tandoori chicken was undercooked, the four pieces they had out in the pan anyway. Rice was.. white rice. No saffron. Like wonder bread white rice. And na'an? What na'an? Oh the the little brown potatoe balls (can't recall their name) were so dry my lunch friend choked on it. Oh. Finished the first round before I had to almost yell at the waitress to get a Coke. She... Ugh. Anyway. I had to go and ask for an extra napkin- you'd of thought there was a napkin crisis In there- not one to be found besides the one per table. From this point, it just got worse. And they weren't busy. That's the weird thing. Not busy at all. So then the kicker. Two adults. Two cokes. We had the HONOR OF PAYING $45 FOR THIS. $45 to be treated rudely to eat really really bad Indian food, and even better? Within half an hour of getting home, each of us... Yup. Explosive diarreah. All for $45. What a honor. I'll never go back. I'm angry, I'm mad as hell. It was awful, and it used to be ok. Horrible. Next time I'll be making the trip to Lynnwood and Cafe India.
I am so disappointed. I wish I had refused to pay. I want my money and my Sunday afternoon back. Horrible and...
Read moreI came in for the buffet last weekend alone, around the same time that a very large, disorganized party came in as well. First off, I watched the manager or owner, whoever the wonderful woman is at the front, handle this party as best as she could. It was like she was herding cows because of how scattered this party decided to be as soon as walking in. She was bombarded with questions by the party on how they can avoid the gratuity policy, as they were a party of 19 by the end of adding people into their group. They came in as 7 originally. I find this baffling & i believe a review below mine is from that party. One of the gentlemen in the party called her deceiving because apparently the ice cream dessert on their menu is “advertised incorrectly” because there was no stick in it? If i overheard correctly, this party lost their patience with the manager when they were called out on the fact that they had called the night before & were turned away because the restaurant cannot handle parties larger than 13 and they were a group of 19. They still decided to come in and nit pick every thing that the manager either told them or did.
All of the food on the buffet was fantastic, 8 unlimited items for $18.99 on the weekend?? That’s more food that you can get at dinner time for $18.99. That’s a total steal. If you have a problem with the service after you’ve already reached out & were told that your party could not be accommodated, then why put yourself through that experience. It seems like these people thought they were being discriminated against intentionally. All hail Curries, the best Indian restaurant in Everett for 13 years. I wouldn’t trust a one off review that is highly distorted to be in favor of...
