I've read the reviews on Google and I have to fully disagree with these people. The food here is exceptional and I've tried to find something comparable to their spicy chicken (when I'm at work or out and about) and in the past 18 years I have been unable to do so. The older lady behind the register is super kind, she always asks me how my kids are doing when I come in and goes above and beyond to make me and my family happy.
Things in the last 18 years I can recall she has done for our family: I call my order in ahead of time regardless of whether im eating at the restaurant or taking it to go. If I tell the lady im eating there she has be known to have my table ready when I get there with a glass of water and my miso soup. I once received a sub par tasting spicy chicken and called them. I called her and told her. She felt SO bad. She apologized very genuinely and gave me a free order the next two times I came in. This was the only time I've ever had a poor quality item from them and they dealt with it. My wife and I were in there enjoying and impromptu meal and she came to our table and gave us free tickets to a multi cultural concert and encourage me to take my wife on a date to this concert. Super nice. On multiple occasions she has added free of charge pot stickers to our order I was going to Seattle for work and it was 10:30 AM and I Was hoping to grab some teriyaki to bring down for lunch. I called in my order like I normally do. She reminded me that they don't open until 11 AM, I totally forgot but they opened 15 minutes early just to give me my order. Honestly there are probably more occasions they have showed me and my family kindness but these are the ones that I remember off the top of my head. So those of you complaining about service, I'm more inclined to think its probably you...
Its a teriyaki restaurant, although I personally have only seen amazing service I don't expect it. I just want my food to be amazing and affordable.
This is a small family owned business and you should know your reviews that you probably posted while having a terrible day affects these small businesses. These people do a great job and have poured themselves into their business for as long as I can remember. They are there from 10 AM - 9 PM at night 6 days a week (they even had a year long stint of doing 7 days a week).
The only relationship I have with this business is being a customer of 18 years.. I'm here to put in a good word for them and attempt to be a voice for them as they probably don't use...
Read moreOK, so here's the deal. I'm going to come back and try this place again sometime. There were a lot of pluses but a couple of minuses in critical categories. It's right next to Fred Meyer so very convenient. The portion sizes were very good and I was instantly impressed. The place was clean, the service was good and they had a steady stream of takeout customers which usually bodes well for quality. I got takeout and it was ready within the time frame they quoted me. Sounds like it should be a solid, hands down win, right?
Sadly, it was not. If the food doesn't taste good then it's a fail. My wife and I ordered the chicken breast teriyaki and I also ordered the yakisoba noodles. My kids got standard teriyaki and one got a combo with that and gyoza. None of us were particularly impressed. The chicken breast was very dry and lacked flavor. It almost seemed as if they'd found a way to scotch guard it so that flavor would bead up and roll off of it. It was weird. I tried propping it up with some Sriracha and it just didn't work. That stuff is freakin' magic and can save almost any dish but not this time. Same deal with the beef yakisoba. I asked for no onions. I don't know if they just don't put veggies in it or if they took the "no onions" request as a request to forgo vegetables all together. If you read my reviews, this was a huge issue I had with the now defunct Golden Cafe. Their yakisoba was greasy noodles and meat with nothing else. I mentioned this to them several times and they didn't seem inclined to make any changes. The fact that they're gone now kind of tells the tale on that, doesn't it?
At least these noodles weren't greasy but they were dry as a bone. Nothing screams, "We buy our noodles in a pillow pack from Cash n' Carry rather than making our own fresh" louder than dry yakisoba noodles. My wife hated it so much, I don't think she's going to ever eat there again. She loves Miyako's and I got chewed out for getting this rather than that. I've got reviews to write here though and I'm always seeing what else is out there. There were enough plus column things here that I'll try it again and just be very specific in...
Read moreMayonnaise! Mayonnaise for salad dressing! Did you guys really think that no one was going to notice? Not a single soul has told you? When you put mayonnaise on a salad, it is still mayonnaise........only now it is on a salad. I like mayo and all, but not in place of actual salad dressing. Why is it that the teriyaki store owners all have owners/wait staff who treat the public really badly? Is this really a custom in Korea? I live in this neighborhood. I’m literally in front of the store two or three times a day at times. It’s nicely nestled next to a Starbucks store and a Fred Meyer‘s. Not to mention the dry cleaners next door. I once had a bad experience at this place; their food made me sick. I swore off them. Today I decided try them again; second chance and all that. The food is mediocre at best and they cut corners everywhere, for instance, there was so much green pepper in my food that I couldn’t taste the rest of my food. But… The icing on the cake? My salad came with a container of ...... you guessed it...mayonnaise ! I guess that’s why it’s called manna, they like the stuff so much they named their place after it! Save yourself the trouble of paying $21 for mediocre food and salads that contain mayonnaise. There is a Joy teriyaki right across the street, and they have really good food. Also… They too serve it up with the attitude. I guess there is no such thing as customer service for teriyaki...
